    Getting lost up there was a concern I had too...I've been making a list of the intersecting roads and which direction to go at each intersection. My GPS does alright but sometimes it gets confused and just says "driving on road". Not very helpful. I just updated my maps though so we'll see if its any better. I don't think I can put the Google earth track in my GPS :confused:

    I know those jeep guys called it the Elk City Wagon Trail but where they started in not the trail. They joined up with it about half way thru that section. At least that is what my Benchmark map says and that is what Google Maps says. The road names/numbers are different as you've no doubt have already seen.

    They were pretty accurate...they just failed to mention the 12356792 other roads intersecting in the area :rolleyes:


    This is what I'm thinking...
    Monte calls us when he is back on the road at XX time Monday morning. Since I will have already driven the same route we should be able to get a good ETA for him in Grangeville. If there is going to be a couple of hours lag I say we do the wagon trail without him and he catches up to us on the other side near Elk City. If he can make it to Grangeville close to our scheduled departure then we wait for him.

    I think that is reasonable and fair to everyone.

    Monte, you will likely have cell service near the interstate. Please call me or text me on Monday morning where you stopped for the night and when you are actually hitting the highway. For sure you will have service going thru Butte and Missoula.

    If it turns out you will not be there in time we will meet you at the intersection of highway 14 and Red River road. It s a couple miles short of Elk City.

    FWIW, the lat/lon of the turn off is 45.808439, -115.475612. It looks like there is a big pull off area right before the road on the right side of 14. We will be there.

    MT has cell phone while driving bans in all major cities now...make Jess do the calling/texting ;)

    I'm still aiming for a 6 pm arrival in Grangeville tomorrow. Going to get on the road in the am and visit the folks in Butte for a few. And if some side road catches my eye on the way over well....you know.:)

    I can't find a way to get my Google map on my GPS...we're going to have to wing it :cool:

    Keep your fingers crossed for clear skies at night. The Perseid meteor shower should peak between tonight and Wednesday. Since we are going to be a good distance away from any lights on the ground we should have a pretty good view of the skies.

    I picked up these 2 hitch hiking just outside seattle, along I-90. Coincidently, there names were Brady and Ginger Derp. :rolleyes:

    BTW, they've hung on there pretty good. They made it all the way to graingeville so far. Brady did lose his cape (naturally, he would have one), it blew off when he raised his arms in the excitement of the ride. :rofl:
