    whew...finally got through both of those posts!

    The flowers are called fireweed...it grows like crazy in Alaska. You can't go anywhere without being surrounded by the stuff up there.
    I almost forgot about the lady in the van :eek: I'm glad she stopped where she did. People around here don't bother to pull over when you pass them on narrow roads and people in ID go to the other extreme.
    I think the allure or challenge of Magruder is the length/remoteness of the area. It was an awesome drive and one I hope to do again...preferably without the smoke! I actually enjoyed the wagon road more as far as terrain goes - nothing difficult but there were more twists and turns and varying terrain. And many times I expected to see bigfoot step out from the shadows of the forest :eek: I'm just not used to being in forests so lush and green...it did lend to a certain creepy feeling trying to see through the darkness at midday.

    Dang, I just noticed this! I actually stopped in Grangeville on the 13th when y'all were starting out. Had to refuel on my way down to the main Salmon to spend a few days. Had I known about this, I would've at least stopped and said howdy! Nice trip!
