Got a lot of great feedback and learned a bunch from my post on a case of buyer’s remorse yesterday. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/buyer’s-remorse-of-course.556381/#post-18149215

Today, the morning after the purchase, I feel a whole lot better about the truck. The OR DCSB is a sweet ride, I learned after taking my inaugural drive today. No rock climbing or anything, just a Sunday drive with my bride. A few impressions:

    * I wanted the cement color, but my wife tells me the silver is more multi-dimensional, or some such thing. Lots of silver lovers here, and I am a convert now. Weird, though, that the first vehicle I saw this morning was a new cement Taco. The driver and I looked each other over pretty closely.

    * What’s the deal with no mud flaps? Didn’t even notice that at the dealership. Was standard on my last two SR5s. Should I get them? Are they needed? Not cool?

    * Still am fascinated by the ride of the OR on the streets and highway. Sits up a little bit, smooth, and a little bounce—not unpleasant at all—just different from my SR5s and a ‘17 Highlander we have.

    * Now I’m liking the black interior. Looks all kind of clean and subtle.

    * Wife is amused by the crawling feature, Go-Pro mount and all the off-road stuff. I’m probably going to have to do the off-roading by myself, and that’s just fine, if indeed it ever happens. Just kind of cool to know it’s there here in Act III of life.

    * And finally, I’m back to the question of just what I should do for the first modification. Thoughts?

Oh, and here’s the newbie on its first run. Thanks again, all, for the input on this deal. I’m a happy man.

PM me if you want my mud flaps. I negotiated them as part of the purchase and later decided they were a PITA to keep clean and would not survive any offroading.

Looks great! Lots of people (myself included) lose the chrome. Personal preference, of course. Bet mat for sure if you don't have one.

Your going to miss out on the cement. That’s why u held out. I did want the premium package... but the only reason I wanted it was for th leather heated seats. Which I did myself for a lot less than the upcharge. With no hole in my roof. I had a inferno 17 TRD or. Had to have the cement. Almost pulled the trigger on a lightly used 17 pro. Still waiting wish I did.

If it never leaves the pavement and you are going to wash/wax it all the time, sure. If it's going to see plenty of offroad use, heck no, you're just going to rip them off anyway.

If the dealer put the front license plate holder on just to advertise themselves on your new truck, you should remove it and beat them over the head with it. If you live in a front plate state/province, then nm. I threatened my dealer about putting any dealer stickers or shit on it.

Great truck btw. I am closing out my first month of Tacoma ownership. I had some second thoughts, mostly financial, but I am glad I went all in and got the truck, and features, that I wanted. I am 45 years old, raised 5 kids and its time I treat myself to something that I want.

If you're planning to start making modifications, the first thing to do is a mult-step process.
    1. Get your wallet out and/or pull up your bank or credit statement. Feel the weight and/or take note of how pretty that account looks.
    2. Come to terms with the likelihood that it will never look like that again.
    3. Let your emotions control your response here, it's better to get it all out of your system now.
    4. Start ordering!
    5. Post all the pics here!

so many mods you can do. Let me suggest:

    OEM bed mat
Subaru tweeter upgrade unless you have the upgraded audio system
Replace the dim OEM interior bulbs with LEDs
Weather Tec or Husky floor mats
    Some sort of step bars.
Black fill "TACOMA" on the tailgate if that suits your sense of style

    Some more pricey upgrades
    TRD CAI
    TRD Catback exhaust
    TRD or aftermarket skid plate
    Window tints

    Good luck

I highly recommend getting mudguards. I took mine off after three months of ownership because I feel it squished the profile of the truck, just didn't like the look. After a month without them and the first wash after having them off, I threw them right back on when I noticed my doors felt like sandpaper. Sand, dirt, and pebbles will pit nicely into paint.

Bed mat is a must if u plan on using ur truck like a truck! I didn’t get one and my bed got marked up the first week sliding a tractor mounted snowblower in it and I haven’t yet figured out how to get them out now it looks like my driveway after the kids chaulk it up lol
