Agreed. You can burn it if you want, its not illegal per the Supreme Court ruling on several occasions. There is a big difference between expressing your right to protest and thinking you are a patriot and thus being ignorant/stupid, though. Wearing clothing that is depicted as being made from the flag, logos or symbols that use the flag or its likeness but do not represent the US or temporarily using something depicting the flag and then disposing of it are examples of the latter.

100% and I'll be honest, I never thought about that - wearing shirts with the flag on it for 4th of July. You make a good point about that

There is some disagreement, even amongst professional groups. The American Legion says most scenarios of wearing the flag are ok because its just a "representation" of the flag, while most others agree that if it's intended to look like the flag it either is the flag or it's a false/inaccurate likeness of the flag which falls afoul of other parts of the flag code. My school of thought is that no single person, outside of a dead soldier, is worthy of having the flag cover them as clothing or otherwise.

Damn. I love 727s. I only had a few opportunities to fly those bad boys before they were retired, but man, I know those systems like the back of my hand.

System B Hydraulics? Breaks In Up Stairs Every Afternoon (Brakes, Inboard flight spoilers, upper rudder, aft airstairs, elevator, aileron).

Hell, I remember watching that damn wing disassemble itself every landing- you can't see pavement through the wing of a 320 or 737!

    OMG!

    Proud Retired Marine O-6!

And I'm glad you explained the directional carry of old glory.

Thanks for the selfie...you look very happy for a twice retired veteran/civilian.

I originally contracted into the Marine PLC program under the Naval Flight Officer track in 1974. Went off to my first 6 week training camp in '75- at that point the Services were cutting back after the end of Vietnam and they identified 40 of us in the aviation programs during our physicals as having "borderline high blood pressure." We got checked 3 times a day and, amazingly, no matter what we were doing, we all came out at 140/80 each time...the cut line. So, they ultimately discharged us from the USMC and told us we could re-sign for the ground track. I was less than happy and opted to join Army ROTC instead - turned out to be a good decision for me. I was blessed with an awesome Army career.

But, I did get a USMC discharge certificate - as a Private - out of the experience, so I got that going for me. :D
