The two recruiters I've actually worked with are not even connections with me on LinkedIn. I have had many recruiters try to get me as a client via LinkedIn, but they all seem shady.

At this point I'm just happy for the prospects! As long as they don't ask about my current salary. The cost of living difference means a good deal of sticker shock!

Well I can help scope out some stuff if need be. The handyman for our place is pretty good, but the last family owned place was kinda lazy about it, I had to bug them a lot to do things. It's hit or miss, as usual. But tolerable here.

Townhomes seem to be common in the West End area, but you're pretty limited on options if you want to walk or bike to work. If I lived any further away than I do now, I would consider driving.

Much appreciated! We may take you up on that haha

Yeah my girlfriend basically grew up in Boston, so while she can drive, she doesn't drive very often. So no car, and she's already going to be broke enough without car payments and insurance every month haha. We will try our best to find a place within walking distance of VLS!

Very generally speaking, anything south of Wedgewood and West of I-65 is what I would consider "green" territory within walking distance of vandy. Music row would be an exception, however there are more homeless in the area so there are more vehicle break ins. That being said, my truck was broken into in front my house, they apparently wanted my 10 year old radar detector . There are many homeless in Centennial Park, a stones throw away.

Good to know! Thanks so much, I'll pass this all on to Molly. It sounds like a garage would be really nice haha

I've had two skid plates and a battery in the bed of my truck for over a month now and they have yet to walk off haha

reasonably priced, reasonably sized, rentable housing with garages are SUPER hard to find in this area. I had a hell of a time finding something, and then I pestered the leasing manager once a month until one became available. As soon as that happened, I had to find someone else to move in the week after I moved out of my old place so I wouldn't have to pay a lease-breakage fee. It was a lot of work, but worth it. I basically live in the garage now. lol

It unreasonably bothers me how wrong this is. See it all the time, on almost every car that has a Tri-star on it.

A rental condo in Sylvan park is nice... not necessarily uber cheap but you can find some deals from time to time. Benefit is you are a 10 minute bike ride from Vandy and you are tucked into an old neighborhood lined with huge old trees that backs up to a 3 mile greenway and a golf course all with bars and great food in walking distance. Something to look at.

I'll pass that along to Ms. Molly! Sounds wonderful though!

Honestly anything is better than Boston. We pay over $2500 for a small two bed with no amenities except off street parking. Plus utilities.

You already sound like you're from somewhere in the south. (y'all) Your sig mentions Cajun. Where are you from originally, and why the heck did you move to Boston? :D

Big shout-out to @TN_TacoSupreme and the good folks over at Ron Hibbard. Seems the legendary Toyota service is not dead as some dealers would lead us to believe.

Need to buy something or get any service or warranty work done. Don't mess around, head north - it's worth the drive to Gallatin.

I needed my weeping diff addressed as well as the whine of the rear end and squealing chirp of the fuel pump. Having had a nightmare, and I mean NIGHTMARE experience w/ Beaman I literally have been avoiding taking it in for anything warranty related. Which is sad.

Today I dropped my truck off with the folks at Hibbard and was greeted with a very helpful staff of folks who genuinely wanted to see me get my concerns addressed once and for all. I was given a loaner without hassle until my truck is done... and I was actually pretty shocked to see the loaner a DCSB OR similar to the one I was dropping off.

Just got a call from the service dept and they are ordering all the parts needed to address the issues with the truck and hope to have me back in by the weekend.

Thank you @TN_TacoSupreme - sounds like I'll be making the drive up to Gallatin more often, and next truck/SUV(wife) purchase is headed your way!

Yeah I'm from Lafayette, Louisiana originally, but I spent my life moving around the globe haha. I came to Boston for college, even though every other place I've lived has been incredibly hot. I thought winter wouldn't be a big deal!

I've been here for 7 years, longer than I've ever lived in one spot before. So it just feels like a good time to get out, and my girlfriend provided the perfect opportunity to head to warmer places! I do love Boston, and I'll miss it, but I will not miss the winter at all!
