Interesting. A buddy at work just bought a set of Cooper Rugged Trek (R/T) that look incredibly similar. It looks like a trend may be starting.

A new trend... but not a new "tread". Hurhurhur... lol.

There are a lot of commonalities between several options that are shared from company to company. For instance, several AT options look like BFG KO2's. Sometimes the minor differences are noticeable, and sometimes they look superficial like a sidewall design. The trend I see is that companies want to provide some options for drivers that want the look of an MT while maintaining some AT style characteristics. Maybe their RT options have half the siping of a standard MT and larger tread blocks, but more than a standard MT.

While it might seem to make sense to go this route, (or you might just want it for aesthetic reasons), I wonder if there is much of an actual difference for off road use. I know that needs are very situational, but I can't imagine that the average RT would be able to clear mud much better than an AT. I would love to see what people say about their experiences with their RTs vs. other options that they've run.

I wonder if RT's characteristics are the best of both worlds from AT's to MT's or the worst of both options.

I put my Kenda Rts through everything. Daily driving, hood deep snow, hardcore rock trails, etc. They take the truck wherever the truck fits

I finally found a set of these at the small local shop I bought my last set of tires from. Only put about 20 highway miles on them for the drive home, but they ride just as nice as the Terra Grapplers that I have had on the truck since it had about 800 miles on on it. There is ever so slightly more road noise but that was expected, and I probably only noticed it because I was being conscious of it. I got 75K miles out of the Nittos and I'm curios to see how these wear. I'll post some updates as I get some miles and get off-road with them. They are definitely a cool looking tire.

How has the availability of these been? When I check online it's really hit or miss, mostly miss on them being in stock anywhere

@chuam because they are so new to the market, It was slow going. Now there is available stock in most cases. Like all new tire products, they advertise before they are even available. DM coming your way.

Just stumbled across this thread. Those are eerily reminiscent of an A/T tire Firestone used to make way back in the day. Can't remember the name, and I jumped on firestone's website and they def don't make them anymore. Had them on a CJ7, good tire.

I like the look of these. I've been running Duratracs lately, but in the mood to switch it up this fall. I'll add these to the list of contenders.

Have about 3500 road miles on them now. They perform good on the highway, just as smooth as my G2's were only a bit more road noise which I don't even notice really unless the stereo is off. Only had them on some dusty, rocky, dry roads off road so far and they are solid, and haven't driven them in the rain yet, I'm in AZ so who knows when that will happen. LOL No noticeable wear and they balanced very well. Maybe a very slight decrease in MPG's but nothing crazy.
