I always liked the older Fords but considered newer ones to be like GM and Chrysler-cheap built over-priced junk. Then I saw the completely ridiculous amounts of abuse my friends 06 F-150 has taken. This truck has gone through way more hell than I would ever think of taking my 78 F250 through and it keeps on going. The only thing has given up is the tranny, and that took 45 minutes of full throttle reverse-drive-reverse while stuck in about 4 foot deep snow, followed by a full throttle reverse into drive four wheel drive burnout on pavement on the way home. And it did drive home under its own power and drove around town a couple days before completly letting go. I'm pretty sure not even our Tacomas would take as much abuse as that truck has.

I still say it's pretty cool, this is what I mean. Although it runs on the S80 platform it's one helluva car. Compared to what it's coming from this is just spectacular Ford.

I really don't think many newly designed (2009/2010) Fords would fall apart. They feel to be very well put together and have a higher standard of quality now.

Hmmm...damn, they are definitely doing better than GM. You have to admit that.

Even if you don't like Ford, this is definitely good news for the American auto maker. Check out this article on how Ford massively upped their quality and saved $1.2 billion on warranty costs!

If the Ranger wasn't a TOTAL POS or if the F150 got 25 mpg or better, then I would be driving a Ford right now. Toyota knows what they are doing as far as the Tacoma is concerned, and that is why I bought one. Hopefully Ford get's their heads out of there rear ends and gets their act to gether so they can compete (or even have a viable presence) in the small/medium truck market and make there full sized trucks get something that resembles gas mileage.

I am a GM fan. I don't like the new F-150 but I have to say that I liked the previous model (2005?). That was a sharp truck, even for a Ford.

If I didn't buy a tacoma i would have probably bought a ford again. I had an F250 diesel, that truck was amazing. It took anything I could throw at it. I just was too much for an everyday driver.

ford actually Dropped the Taurus, The new car that would have been the "New" Taurus, they called the 500... its not like they renamed a taurus a 500, they just came up with a new name for a new car... They then later called the 500 the Taurus so that the old people would feel more familiar

I guess you guys have either had bad experience with Ford or just don't like Ford in general. That kinda sucks cause they are doing so much better than they were and world better than GM and that joke of an auto maker, Chrysler.

    Anyways,
I found this 09/2010 Harley Davidson F-150 that I thought looks pretty damn sick.
    Linkage!

Here's the thing. Sure they look and perform nice. But what you get with Toyota is the fact that this truck will run like how I have it now, 10-15 years in the future. Can the F-150's say that? Highly doubtful.

Initial quality is a sham. Hell, it's a sham-wow. Sure it's good to have a vehicle that off the bat looks and runs nice. But they all should regardless. What matters is how well they hold together after 150,000miles have been tagged on them.

What was the model year when you got the Taco?
Yes, that would be nice to have American company cars being sold more in America than Japanese cars.
I don't doubt it. I mean the 99 Volvo has over 100K miles and it still runs...and that thing is a piece of rat shit on cow shit on this apple computer. I mean it's a terrible car, 40K miles and it got a new transmission. After the experience with that thing, I don't doubt anything.

They seirously are stepping it up! Go to a Ford lot and check out the 09 F-150 and the new car they have out. They're rather good on their initial feel and since Ford as lowered their warranty costs by $1.2 billion, then I can stand up and say they hold together very nicely.
