I just wanted to say hello. I just bought a brand new 2023 MGM Tacoma TRD Off Road about a week ago. I’ve never had a brand new car in my life. All except one were salvage title. I’ve always wanted a Tacoma and now I’ve got one. I’ll be driving her until the wheels fall off or when my son is old enough and wants it. Anyway, I found this community a while ago when I had my 4Runner and this is my first post. Happy to be here. Looking forward to gathering all the wisdom I can. Cheers.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
    Welcome to TW!
Be careful around here. Next thing you know you'll be disillusioned by all of the whiny posts complaining about the minute faults in Tacomas.
OR, you'll be opening your wallet to the plethora of mods you should make.
Enjoy your new Taco as-is for several months before you start thinking about all the mods you could do. At least keep the initial mods to those that are easily reversible.

Very good point. One exception to this would be a bed mat (OEM seems to be the most popular). If you don't get a bed mat your stuff will be all over the place. These composite beds are quite slippery.

I’ve already got some great tips! Haha. I try to be frugal and practical at the same time. I’ve installed some small “mods” already. I changed the interior lighting to LEDs as the incandescent lights are too weak when I need them. I put in some door edge guards and all weather floor mats. LED bed lights and a tailgate locker. All in all I’m about $100 in and everything has a benefit.

I’ve perused these forums before when I had a 2000 4Runner. Not gonna lie, the mod temptation is real. The one thing that stuck out to me is so much of the community saying how well equipped these awesome machines are STOCK. They’re capable of doing some great things out of the box and don’t need much to start hitting trails and exploring.

Things I want to eventually get:

    • Bed cover
    • Some sort of bed step (my knees hurt)
    • Bed mat
    • Seat covers (maybe?)
    • Profit?
