I'm looking at purchasing a new Tacoma, and I'm wondering about the troubling reviews I've seen. It seems some buyers are/have had trouble with transmissions and differentials already. Anybody had this experience?

Don’t believe anything but your own opinion! Test drive as much as you can. The bottom line is that the transmission shifts a bit differently than some people can accept. I have actually owned 3 Tacomas in less than a year. Bought a very basic SR utility, and loved it. Wanted more truck, so I sold my weekend play toy, and traded my SR for a trd pro. Loved it beyond words, until a semi slid across a snow covered highway and totaled it. So, replaced it with taco #3

My point is, all have been fine. Maybe I’m just lucky. There’s a reason these trucks hold their value so well. Drive a Tacoma, and a competitor, see what your gut says.

    Good luck, and welcome!
