I have a few questions on the new Tacoma:

    1.) Is it still underpowered?
2.) Is the transmission still jerky?
3.) Are the seats more comfortable than the 2014 model?
4.) Is the wind noise better than the 2014 model?

    Thanks!

1.) Test drive it and see for yourself.
2.) You could test drive it and see for yourself.
3.) Sit in it and see for yourself.
4.) Have you tried test driving it to see for yourself?

    1. Not the 2.7 in the SR AC trim
    2. Not when paired to the 2.7
    3. Way more comfortable!
    4. Maybe a little bit. It's still pretty windy though, doesn't drive you crazy or anytning. Not me anyways because I'm used to Tacoma's being that way. Even before Tacoma, Toyota trucks had road noise like you wouldn't believe.

I could drive it and sit in it but wanted to first get feedback before I get high pressure sales at a dealership.

1 - I don't find it to be underpowered. It tows my 21' travel trailer fine.

2 - I don't find the transmission to be "jerky".

    3 - I don't know, I haven't sat in a 2014.

    4 - See #3.

    1) I don't think it is under powered. Power comes a little higher in the RPMs than my previous vehicles, though.
    2) I didn't any issues with on my 2016 and don't have any with my 2018
    3) Never sat in a 2014
    4) It is definitely quieter than a 2012 that I have been in while driving

Fair enough, sorry. It doesn't seem underpowered to me. As for being "jerky" I guess that might depend on whether you get an automatic or manual (as well as how well you drive a manual). For me, it's not jerky. I haven't driven the automatic, so I can't help you there. I haven't driven a 2nd gen either, so I can't help you on #3, but for #4 I can say it's quieter than I expected a truck to be.

    1) Not when you put your foot into it!
    2) The automatic can be a bit jerky at low speeds i.e. stop and go traffic. Not jerky any other speeds.
    3) I don’t know
    4) I don’t know

1.) Is it still underpowered? - 2015 to 2018 power seems to be pretty comparable (although I still think the 4.0 seemed a little better with the low end)
2.) Is the transmission still jerky? - A little shifty, but my 2018 is still learning. Plus you can overcome trans issues with OVTune.
3.) Are the seats more comfortable than the 2014 model? - I think so, but I went from 2015 O/R with cloth to 2018 Sport with leather
4.) Is the wind noise better than the 2014 model? - Did not experience much wind noise on 2015 or 2018 so far...

DrFunker, how clever? Am I to interpret your answers to all four questions as YUP? LOL

You could resolve to not buy the truck now, no matter how great the deal is. Maybe going in the beginning of the month will reduce some of the "sales pressure". Last thing you want to do is rush.

Maybe bring someone you trust with you if you are concerned about being pressured by the sales team.

Also, checking out the GM twins and Frontier will give you something else to compare the 3rd gen to.

The only accurate way to know if you are interested in the 3rd gen is extensive test driving in different conditions.

Good luck, and fwiw, in my opinion the 3rd gen is a great pickup truck.

Yes indeed, I was thinking of that. The new Colorado is powerful I hear?

Nissan makes a good truck IMO, but lack the style I am looking for in the Frontier.

The Colorado, I wonder how much will break down with that powerful engine. I'm used to Toyota dependability and little afraid to venture to the Colorado just yet?
