I am not sure the issue. Ask for test drive. Do test drive. If you feel pressured walk out.

I honestly don’t know how this is a catestrophic event. Be honest. Don’t mince words and be direct with what you have to say. You have to sign a lot of paperwork to make a deal so how can you be pressured if you refuse to sit down or pick up their pen to sign?

I don’t know if it is my age or my personality. I am not making any deal unless I am 100%. No one is pressuring me into anything. I start looking for a vehicle a year before I make a deal. I look at everything I know I am interested in and everything I am pretty sure I don’t want as well as anything in the category I know nothing about. When I am done I know exactly what I am buying and why I am not buying everything else I looked at. My Tacoma wasn’t even on my list when I started. It it was the right truck for me compared to everything I compared. To be quite honest I told the GM of the dealership I bought from that I would never buy a vehicle from them or any other dealership in their ownership group. I explained my bad experience with my wife’s car from another one of their dealerships and told them I was only there to test drive and I was buying elsewhere. In the end they did everything I could ask for. I believe it was because I was blunt and completely honest.

This. I'm still surprised to see comments saying things like 'sluggish' and 'jerky'. Maybe there is a wide discrepancy from truck to truck with the Tacoma, but MINE has plenty of power, get up and go, speed, however you want to state it. No issues at all with shifting either.
I do notice things are a bit noisy, but only on the rare occasion that I don't have tunes playing, so whatever. It is a truck.
As for the seats, I went from a '14 Tacoma to a '15 Rav4, and back to an '18 Tacoma. The first time I sat in the '18 I noticed how much better the Rav4 seats felt, and didn't recall the '14 seats feeling so stiff. But truthfully, after that 1st impression I haven't had any complaints in subsequent rides.
