I agree, their personalities together didn't work out. But I think we should give them some time and see how it turns out.
I'm sure the U.K. version didn't start out all that great too with their personalities.

Here is what the guys over at Jalopink have to say about Top Gear USA. They have been all sorts of excited about Top Gear USA since it was announced that the History Channel would product it (what ultra-modern super cars and guy's BS'ing has to do with history, I dont know ).

I have not watched it yet, but I'll be checking it out tonight.

I guess that my2 biggest issue is that they are copying the British show. Something original would be nice. they should hire Chris, Tigerfan and I...maybe not Chris, the insurance would kill us.

Yea Ferrara is the only decent one. They should just make Tanner the stig and make him known.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Does it contain great commentary such as this?

Tanner is a hack drifter. The Stig needs to be a race driver who knows the fast way, not the flamboyant way around a track.

True. But doesn't he know how to drive track too? Maybe not.

Not from what I've seen, he can drive a rally car OK, but he was embarrassing in the Race of Champions series in Europe.

(On the Alfa Romeo Brera) Think of it as Angelina Jolie. You've heard she's mad and eats nothing but wallpaper paste. But you would, wouldn't you?

    Yes, yes I would.

Not talk at all. She's a left turner, that show needs a road course driver maybe from one of the sports car series' or American LeMans.

And she'd never do it. Too much of a snob. Already too much media around an above mediocre race car driver...

I've been a fan of the UK Version for years and I thought the US version was a weak copy of the UK version. They tried to follow the exact same script from England but without humor. I'll keep watching hoping it comes together but Adam Corolla would have been a much better choice than those stiffs.

I was quite disappointed with the hosts, although I was comparing them to Clarkson, Hammond and May.

They should can all the hosts they have, they are horrible, the energy is bad and they might as well be reading queue cards from their hands instead of grasping to remember the horrible script. It was hard to watch, almost amateur.

They need to get hosts like; Adam Carolla, Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, or Tim Allen. Any of those three would mesh well, have a good knowledge of cars and can actually ad lib scenes.

    Dry British humor FTW!!!!!!

    Allen: Agreed
Seinfeld: Meh, can't stand his voice.
    Carolla: Agreed
Leno: I cannot find anything funny about that man.

Good article, and lets hope they are right...agreed with Tim Allen as long as he leave the grunting with Home Improvement. The other thing is that the UK guys are automotive reporters and radio personallities...though I couldnt see the guy from MotorWeek doing it:pout:. US automotive reporters have no sense of humor, or to scared to say anything negative in fear of the FCC or getting sued...plus they are use to reporting about crap cars. The other then US automotive industry actually respects and listens to what those 3 have to say. Case in point....Koenigsegg
