Well said 98Taco! These guys have zero personality as others have said. None of them have the passion or knowledge of cars the UK hosts have. I highly doubt any of the US hosts would be able to fix cars on the fly as the UK hosts are able to do. AND, I'd like to see the US hosts do special episodes and see how they perform(i.e. Polar special(I want that Hilux!), 7 days in Vietnam, Botswana Special, Crossing the English Channel, etc.)

Some have argued why are we comparing this series to the UK series? Imo, if the producers or hosts for the US version didn't want to be compared to the UK version, then they should have come up with something different(i.e. Slow Gear.)

Had this series had Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld, then I'd give it a shot. Hell, even Captain Slow drives faster than these guys!

I watched that show on Speed between Tanner and Paul Tracy. I only watched one episode and got tired real fast. As others have stated, Paul tracy's ego is tiresome.

I feel like he's a Randy Moss when testing those cars. Such a primadonna. No thank you!

I still have a funny feeling the Stig is Ken Block...expecially when he has appeared numberous time this past season on the UK version...maybe he is a method actor???LOL. He was featured a couple times on the over the pond one...Though with ours, his fluffy apperance has made the UK guys dead accurate...Remember the Stig's American cousin???

    Working on it
Just started watching the BBC version and I got hooked, can't get enough. But its the host and the back and forth between them that makes the show. I will never get to own a $150,000+++ sports car; and could care less about that, but seeing them have fun with it makes it worth watching.

The american version was just flat, those guys were having no fun and doubt they are as inteligent as the BBC guys. Kind of interested in what the background of the british hosts are, have to a do a serach one of these days.

Go back and watch the first season of UK's current format, it was pretty dry. I'd say give the US hosts a chance to bond a bit before judging the show.

I watched the pilot episode last night, and I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Shelby Cobra Daytona that was sitting behind the host's at the opening of the episode. That is a sweet car.

I met a guy last weekend that has an '07 Viper. He's dumped some serious $$$ into that car. It is now supercharged and nearly 1,000hp at the rear wheels. I mention this because he had the same complaints about the Viper as Tanner did, though I doubt he's as good a driver as Tanner.

As far as pilot episodes go, I think Top Gear: USA did fine. It will take an episode or three to get the kink's ironed out.

for a pilot it wasn't too bad, it had some good moments, but as previously stated they are FAR too scripted. You know that no car manufacturer is going to take this seriously, and a few good cars are not going to show up on the show.

European TV is WAY better as there are less idiots over there that complain. Honestly I will watch the Top Gear USA just to see how good/bad it gets, but I will remain faithful to Top Gear BBC.

I saw the Cobra, but Ive seen many shows that had one sitting in the back ground. Now.....If they would have run a lap, THAT would have been note worthy :)

    Does Plasti-Dip count as a mod ?
Obviously the USA TG is not as good as the BBC TG. Definitely the same format. It doesn't yet have the same character. I don't think it will either. The hosts don't seem to have the same chemistry that the BBC TG has. Time will tell.

It wasn't bad, but I'll reserve my enthusiasm until more episodes have aired.
