    Awesome FJ! I just picked one up tonight (traded my lil 5-lug). I want to lift mine and put some rims/tires on too. Did you have to do anything to accomidate angles changing. I know the Taco needs a dif drop when lifting.. I am not sure how the FJs are setup.. so I am back to noob status.

    No man, you dont need a diff drop or anything. You could purchase some UCA's if you want the specs to be closer to stock.

    Mind if I ask what kind of mount did you use ? Did you drill through the handle of the axe? Where you worried about the handle strength? Once again awesome build!!!

    Hey Andy
    I did drill through the handle of the axe & shovel. I made my own mounts using hardware from home depot. U bolts and such. So far so good. Havent had any problems with the axe or shovel strength. the axe could use a good sharpening :anonymous:

    I have since moved the shovel and Axe to the sides of the rack. Noticed a drop in MPG's with the shovel acting as a parachute mounted on the rear

    You should just keep a tuff bin or something in the back to carry all your recovery and offroad stuff.
