You might want to ask in a performance forum... or look up the spec on the fuel pump.

I accidentally lost track of following this thread.

As others mentioned you should only see peak charging voltage after initial start or heavy current draw. If you were charging at peak voltage for an entire day your battery was likely depleted due to some kind of drain or poor charge state and your alternator was working to replenish the battery. You shouldn’t be charging at those levels all day otherwise, check out the voltage charts in the original post as an example of the voltage fluctuation.

I think you may be able to roughly calculate a percentage, which you could translate to PSI if you know the stock PSI output.

@crashnburn80 I know you have a 2nd Gen, but have you heard of any way to raise the voltage of 3rd Gen (besides OV tune? I think I read they can cause issues?).. a new alternator i guess?

Thanks for all you do. Still waiting to do my H9 headlight, reverse light, and DD ss3 fogs all based on your research.

OV Tune info below. I haven't heard of any issues as a result. A new alternator will not help, an alternator swap can offer higher amp capacity, but the ECU is still regulating the voltage and will control it the same as a stock alternator. I don't recall if HP Tuners has made a similar voltage adjustment for AGMs.

Edit: Added that link to the original post under 3rd Gen.

I don't have a 2nd Gen anymore (I know I left that info in the profile). I went to the dark side and now have a 440hp Supercharged Gladiator Mojave about to go on 37s. :D Related though, it came with a factory AGM but also has a factory dual battery setup for the auto stop/start. The factory AGM has a warning sticker to not change higher than lead acid voltage levels, which makes me think they didn't add an AGM for the secondary battery. I have to take the fender liner off to check the secondary battery, which uses single use plastic rivets. I haven't got around to it yet and then once that is resolved figure out how to fix the charge voltage.

Is there a reason I shouldn't run The X2 27M (Marine RV model with the extra terminals(what I have with my Original DieHard Platinum)) Vs the X2 27 F( which says Car and Truck)?? seems to have same specs for AH and CCA?
    Thanks for any info

If you want the extra terminals, the marine version is fine.

Found a reason not to buy X2 27M vs 27F. 1 extra year warranty on the F vs M model.

Terminal orientation remains correct/the same as the 27F flavor?

Good call, the terminals are reversed. So the 27M wont work with the stock terminal hookups.

See above. I hadn’t accounted for the terminal reversal.

Do these Northsttars/X2's have any lineage to my (true original) Sears Platinum Diehard deep cycle Group 31(going on 6+ years and no issues attached to CTEK)Really miss those units. $sub $250 with core change OTD.
Handle , Battery terminals and accessory posts identical in my old 05 Taco. Or is there a "standard" for marine batteries?

2nd battery added(yellow top), big 3 upgrade completed w/ofhc 0awg, 1000 watt pure sine wave inverter added, medical oxygen system added, led marker lights. 60% rear seat deleted. Upgraded both battery terminals. Yellow top primary battery. 200Amp Alternator upgrade.
look up voltageboostmods.com, they make an in line plug n play voltage booster that changes what the ecu sees. It’s supposed to work on 3rd gens. It plugs into the alternator and into the alternator wiring harness. Mike Singer of singer alternators is who “invented” it.

Instead of changing voltage and such can I just trickle charge it on occasion? And is that 100% necessary, or only an option to increase the lifespan.

Anything else I need to know about getting the batteriesplus 27F. Thinking of snagging one this week.
    Thx

If you bought a 30 gallon fuel tank would you only put 22 gallons in it because that was full for the OEM one? It's the same concept. Yes it'll work, but if you're not going to take advantage of the extra capacity why bother?

Trickle charger would have been my first choice if I had room for the Tacoma in my garage. Throwing it on there over night 1x a week would be more than sufficient at maintaining it.

In terms of needing to know anything else, and I’m sure all of these points have been covered at some time in this thread, it would be good to keep an eye on the sheet metal the battery tray rides on as it’s quite heavy. Some folks have difficulty securing it with the OEM battery tie-downs (I have it secured under the handle). When it’s combined with the voltage booster and the ultimate headlight upgrade you’ve accomplished the easiest and best mod possible on these trucks. MOAR LIGHT!

already got new headlights with plenty of light. I just want a better battery that'll outlast typical options, run extra lights, etc, easier. Thanks for the reply.
