I read these posts all day long of CEL demons, rusted frames, broken cv's, misfires, burned out bulbs, etc, etc and I am thankful that I havent had a single issue with my truck since I bought it. I drive it, I maintain it and I drive it some more. knock on wood that it continues. Anyone else in the same boat as I? Post up.. :D

I think im good for now. It is a well maintained truck, no rust and I am the second owner. The first owner had all maint. done at the dealer up until it was sold to me.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
I think that a majority of ppl here have little wrong with their truck. It seems that there are a lot of issues on these forums but that's just because you only post on a "help" forum if your truck is g2g. Until now that is....

Hmmm... I had to replace my ignitors, an alternator, a wheel bearing and a P/S pump hose on mine but I consider those to be consumables. Everything else has been modding stuff.

You also see that most vehicles that have problems are those that are modified.

All of my "issues" with my truck are because of how I drive the truck. Mine is more or less maintenance than something wrong though as I can still drive my truck just fine.

I put 275k on my '98. Not one single check engine light the entire time. The frame on the other hand rotted out from under it. Still way happy.

I tail light assembly-broke it myself, so I'm not counting that.

Im not talking about normal wear and tear items. My truck is also bone stock so I think that has a lot to do with its reliability.

My truck is finally golden. Im basically done, until something breaks.

    New wheel bearings.
    New axle bearings
    New seals
*perfect* rust free frame, sealed with rhino-liner.
    Rebuilt/balanced drive shaft
    Rebuilt CV axles
New Upper control arms and UBJ's
New lower control arm bushings & LBJ's
Engine in fantastic shape, w/ new timing belt @120k, and new accessory belts
    New plugs/wires/coils
    New PCV/IAC/TPS valves/sensors
All fluids swapped over to amsoil
    New steering rack
    New inner/outer tie rods
New suspension (ome), with new Dakar leafs
Shimmed rear axle for correct driveline geometry
New rear brakes (turned drums, fresh shoes)
New front brakes (brembo blank rotors, rebuilt calipers, PBR xbg pads)
    Stainless braided brake hoses
Brand new Hankook dynapro ATm tires

Replaced all the old stuff, and it rides/performs great.

The only real thing that can happen now, is a random fluke, like a wrist pin giving up, the tranny loosing a tooth and then eating it, or a random bearing dieing.

But as it stands, my truck is fan-freaking-tastic. Dealerships always try to coax me into trading it in, but I always laugh and tell them my 1st gen is built better.

Some of this Some of that
I'm really surprised I have 230k on things like the alternator, starter, radiator. All things I have replaced were worn out at a reasonable mileage or my own fault for buying shit autozone parts( no longer). It's a really impressively durable truck.

Not everyone is the original owner either, so some of the problems we are having are from previous owner neglect/mods.

I really do think that a lot of the issues posted on this site come from previous owner neglect. I was lucky enough to get a truck with an immaculate service history

well for the amount of things my truck has been through id say its pretty reliable.. I've been in 6x accidents and I'm just starting to get it to run smooth again finally.. probably paid close to as much in maintenance (including oil, brake pads etc) and fixing things as i did for the truck itself. my truck had 155k miles when i got a valve job. has 168k now.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
Agreed...like looking at product reviews for things. For every negative review, there's bunches of people with zero problems that don't post positive reviews (in general).

And, there is nothing wrong with my truck now either...other than the axle shims I had put in still weren't enough angle to be correct. Fixed that with a few washers to drop the carrier bearing a little. And that's not even really a problem...it's a side effect of a user mod (the lift).
