Quick summary of what I see on the homemade front:

cookies, jam, bread, jerky? Eats seem the most obvious.

Custom dog bowl, I’m guessing ceramics and/or woodworking items with a pet focus could be fun depending on the specifics.

I didn’t hit on anything metal. That’s where I was most curious. Lots of good welders here but heavy stuff means expensive shipping.

I’m guessing that the best way to sleuth is by reviewing the recipients posts in reverse chronological order? And perhaps using that to reach out to friends from the recipient’s circle?

 

Third year for me!!

 

I make license plate brackets and have sent them in the past as a gift. But if I do that then I do not count it towards the required gift total. That is an extra I send just in case it can be used. Sending baked goods can be tough since there is no guarantee on how quickly shipping works this time of year. Some common shipments have taken weeks to get there. That would not be good for some goodies. Others on TW have sent some homemade brews, hot sauce, or other homemade items that "store well". I try each year to incorporate some items from my home state and local area with an item or two or three from their wish list(if they have one). My wife also participates in the fun since often I will try to include more than just the TW member if the TW member has a family and/or pets. And I will post in the wish list thread that I would appreciate it if the gift I receive can be used by both of us since we both participate in the exchange. In the time I have participated I have found that TWSS participants with significant others really enjoy the inclusion of the rest of their "family" and that their family members are typically "blown away" to think a total stranger sends them gifts. It really adds to the spirit and flavor of TWSS.

 

Best part of this is when you guys answer questions for us, and very thorough I might add.

You can imagine how old it gets people asking "how big tires I can fit stock", etc

 

@daveeasa the TWSS Wishlist threads are a good place for ideas as well. Even if your victim didn't post a list.
