    Hello Tac World !
I just joined. Got a slow leak the other day on my 2001 PreRunner 4-door ( 265/70 16 Goodyr Wranglers). Then my daughter saw the condition of the tire in a pic and said what I always preach to her - - check your treads ! It's time for new tires. I'm a novice about light truck/off-road tires - learning a lot. You all want to go bigger - I want to go smaller: 15" rims. One of the tire shops told me: can't put 15" rims on a 2001 (caliper scrape). But isn't that only if I have the Tundra brake system ? ( I'm Not TRD.) Is there an easy way to tell if I have Tundra brakes ?
And can anybody recommend a reliable on-line wheel/rim company ? And I have to be careful about the load rating of the smaller 15" tires ?

Have a 1999 SR5 4WD 6 cyldr, 235K miles, put 16" rims with 265/70/16 tires, they road great for the first year, now have ~7K miles and now I'm feeling every crack in the road. At highway speed the ride is very stable with out a lot of bouncing, just feel a lot of the bump and more of the road vibration. At slower speeds around towns it seems like I feel even more. I do basic off road to get to places, washboards can really rattle the truck. Ive had the 16" rims for a while previous tire size adjusted to keep the diameter to original specs. Any ideas why the ride seems to be getting rougher?

In case anyone is wondering about the trd pro sema wheels and manual locking hubs:

    - the cap will fit over the hub
    - it isn’t difficult to cut out the center of the hub to allow access to the dial, although the dial won’t be flush

Do you have manual locking hubs up front?

Don't look like it. Cap won't fit if he got manual locking hub.

thanks to this thread I got some 2nd gen rims for my first gen.
I didnt like my wide wheels and no options to go narrow and tall, so now with 17's, it opens a lot of options.
drove around the neighborhood, no rubbing. :bananadance:
from 8x15 rims to 7x17 only a 18# weight difference, each. :broccoli:

current tire on 245/70 17 plan to change soon, i want pizza cutters :dancingbacon:

I am concerned about the lug nuts…. The OD of the nut doesn’t fill in much on the second Gen rim.

I brought the largest OD ones from O’Reillys.
    https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c/mcgard/tire---wheel/wheel-lug-nuts---studs/lug-nut/835b5ec42d53/mcgard-m12-1-50-thread-3-4-inch-hex-wheel-lug-nut/mcg0/64012/v/a/18885/automotive-truck-2006-toyota-tacoma

But I’m guessing I really need to purchase these

    https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/...v/a/18885/automotive-truck-2006-toyota-tacoma

the washer would fill in the rim quite a bit better.
