    Got busy with some firebrick and expanded metal yeterday, this contraption fits down inside a Weber kettle. Top opening 4.25 x 9 inches, ran 600 degrees naturally aspirated for about 45 minutes. I could barely get it up to 700 degrees F with forced induction, but not bad for a first prototype. First cook was today, New York strip with zero familiar spices.

    Salt pepper garlic. Finish w/a slab of butter. Once you go cast iron, ya never go back.

    Looks good.

    Try a reverse sear, then do the sear in cast iron. You will never go back. Well, I won't. :)
