I have the Bowflex dial weights. I got mine used for like $200. @uhplifted has the Blok set I believe.

Buying individual dumbbells can get expensive.

I do it when I need a change from the standard lift routine. Its fun and challenging, it helps me stir up my routine.

Ive been silently browsing this thread, been stuck on a plateau for a while, just kinda following my own routine due to a shitty work schedule.

@weldertaco you want you grip as narrow as your shoulder mobility will allow. The narrower your grip, the easier it is to create lots of upper back tension. Don’t be stupid with it though, getting a narrower grip at the expense of hurting yourself shoulders or elbows isn’t worth it. My shoulders are very immobile, so I have a very wide grip.

I saw a very good low bar, bar placement and grip video once. I’ll see if I can find it.

I also think it’s very important to warm up your shoulders prior to low bar squatting. I have a great exercise for that. I’ll try to find a vid of that too.

someone said it, but you will always have more forward lean with the low bar position. That’s necessary to keep the barbell over the center line of your body. Otherwise, you’d fall backwards.

Lots of good info here. I forgot to add that using a thumbs over grip is the only way I can get into position. Pretty sure he covers that in this vid.

Thanks bro. I appreciate all the help. Feeling strong af lately and loving it even if the abs aren’t as visible now. Gonna try to see what I can get for a bench PR today. Hoping for 325. Also have a meeting with a personal trainer later this week due to it being free at my gym when you sign up. Sucks that the one time I’m gonna get my body fat read is when I’m not as lean as I was 2 months ago lol but ‘tis life.

Apparently. It’s some big fancy gym. I signed up cause they had a cyber Monday deal where this massive 2 story gym was cheaper than my hometown tiny gym. When you sign up you get 2 meetings with a personal trainer and get your BF scanned and meal prep/nutrition and workout plans and all that. They said

“It’s not that bullshit training like yay you got on a treadmill. Go you! it’s real training and planning”

    so we gonna see.

What gym is it? Big doesn't mean better. I went to a 2-story LA Fitness while I was in Orlando for a week because they had a 'free 5 day trial' and it was the worst gym I have ever been in. There is absolutely no way they could've sold me on a membership if I lived there, even if they paid me to use it.

And I am sure the 'free training' and consultation stuff is the same as any other gym. They will probably do a handheld BF scanner or calipers. They tried pushing it on me at Lifetime Fitness when I joined last year. You'll see real quick when you meet the trainers and they don't even look like they train themselves...

This is true. I workout at LA (used to work for them too) and it leaves a lot to be desired. Very few squat wracks that are always in use. No bumper plates or any other better quality equipment.
I wish it was better but really the only other choice I have is this or a Crossfit gym. I don’t have any other gyms near me that I’m aware of.

I mean it’s a nice gym. I went a couple times with a day pass when I moved up here. I just don’t care much for trainers cause , as you said, they usually don’t even look like they know what they’re doing. Shit. Y’all are more jacked than the trainers I’ve seen so far here lol.
Just meeting with em cause they said I have to do it by XXX day of joining and I’m always curious to see what people say.

People don’t get this concept - arms take very little to stimulate growth as a relatively small muscle. Max 20lb dumbbells for me too, heavy does jack shit for them.

Looking good bro, waist looking tiny!
