I was about your weight when I was A senior, (5 8", 130-135) then when I hit 20 years old
I hit another growth spurt you could say and now I'm about 165 with a low BFI.

Learn your body, don't do what some other guys routine because it works..
Yeah, it works but it works for him. You have to see what works for you and your body.

Learn some basic compound exercises (bench pressing, squating, bent over rows, etc.).
IMO they are the best when are a newbie. You really don't want to hit isolation workouts till later.

Just because your friend is taking a protein powder doesn't mean it contributes to his gains.
He just has A different genetic map than you. But that doesn't mean you can't get gain some size yourself,
it may take longer than your friend but it can accomplished!

Bigger spoon my friend! Try 3-4 big ass meals before thinking about protein powder! Have a PB&J before you eat, gallon of milk a day, etc. All these things work over expensive protein and weight gainers!

Heavy compounds will work well for you.......I was 5'11" 135 in high school and could bench that and thought I was bad ass with a 6pack too! Ended up getting to a "normal weight" as I got older but got pretty fat eating like I was 17...lol! Now at 33 trying to get back to that normal weight and 10% bf level!

Build the size now while T levels and naturally at their peak!

He'll ya, I like staying smaller and well conditioned too! Calisthenics can be easily adapted to all strength levels and usually the one with more stamina wins! Especially in you situation man!

My 2 cents. Im simply a dude who just works out. I was around 155 last august, previously i was doing alot of crossfit and cardio.... but i changed it up cause i wanted to try something different. I started weight lifting for 3 months and didnt gain a lb, got a bit stronger but nothing dramatic.... bench went up from 200-225.

Since december i started eating lots of carbs and protien throughout the day and the weight started to pile on.... went from 155-160 to 170-175 and i got alot stronger and the results are noticable..... Lots of chicken and rice and vegtables... it sucks at first eating an assload of food each day but you get use to it. just my 2 cents.

Its 70% diet and 30% working out....

Oh yea sleep at least 6-7 full hours

heres a good leg workout I did the other day....try it and have fun =)

Seated leg curls – 2-3 warm up sets. 3 sets of 10, then a drop set where you do 10 reps, drop the weight and do 10 more reps, then drop the weight and go to failure.

    Leg Press – 4 sets of 20 w/ 90 sec rests
On the first two sets put your feet at the bottom with your heels touching and toes pointed out (feet in a V) don't lock out. This will destroy your tear drop. On the last two sets go high and shoulder width.

Box Squats– 3 sets of 10 (box should be below 90 degrees)
    5 sec negatives

Dumbbell Walking Lunges – 3 sets of 16 steps

Barbell Stiff Legged Deadlifts– 4 sets of 12 no lockout and 3 sec negatives

Adductor machine – 4 sets of 10 reps

We all do things for different reasons, he does his for competition, not to do functions out of the gym.

I'm sure he sees a crossfit person and says, I'd like to see them squat a thousand pounds...

Each to his level and style of fitness.

I was at the gym the other day and some guy was walking around giving people advice on form and workouts. But the dude didn't even look like he was fit. What's your take on people like this? And to top it off, when he actually worked out (in between talking sessions) he had really poor form.

I'm sure a lot of this happens online. Especially people hiding behind a screen giving advice when they really do not know much just repeating what they heard/read. Would you trust someone that doesn't look the part???

    Just ranting I guess.

I don't give a shit who you are, or what you look like, if you go around telling me how to workout and you have no certs and don't look like you know what the hell you're doing, you can fuck off.

I'll go to guys in the gym that look fit, and workout in a way that shows they know things about exercise and lifting, and I'll ask them about stuff. And some people come to me and ask me about stuff, but I don't go out of my way to tell people how to workout....that's crossing the personal space line.

I'd tell him to fuck off if he came up to me! There's another forum I'm on with people from all over the world.....you can't believe some of the advice these dudes give! I mostly get on there to read about the boxing stuff but the strength and conditioning part is ridiculous!

I don't care what certs they have, b/c many I know look great but aren't "certified" but they look great b/c they know what they are doing..I'm not certified but have trophies under my belt and think I look descent...many ask for pointers all the time on here (publicly and via PM)

If u look like crap how can I take u seriously? How many p/t do you see that look like crap? A lot...
