Nice work. CB is on my bucket list but can never seem to get out there during peak wildflower season. Here is a few from 2 nights ago. Had an angry storm roll through. Z6 and Nikkor 20mm 1.8.

Peak season is not exactly consistent year to year anyway. Right now it is like June there bloom wise. There is hardly anything at higher elevations. Some of the trails I wanted to do have snow and no flowers yet. I have been going the last several years. I might go to the American Basin next year and try something new. Headed out that way in September for fall also.

^ That's really clean for ISO1600 at least compared to my archaic camera :) What's the native resolution of the D500? I tell ya, as much as I like using old-ass equipment I am starting to want MORE than 8.2MP if only because down-sizing from a modern sensor of what? 7000x5000 etc? More??? into something web-friendly (1200x800, say) can make a lot of positive difference in apparent image quality than going to 1200x800 from my camera's 3504x2336. I shoot with a circa 2004 Canon 1D Mark II (N).

Native size is 5568 x 3712, 20.9mp. This is about a 50% crop then resized.

As clean as it may seem I'm just using Nikons free software available for download. My computer is too old for any modern software but there are a few programs that really work well with the D500 files as far as cleaning up noise.

I believe you can pick up a used 5D mkIII for very nice prices nowadays.

Thanks! Yeah - I'm still on the fence. I typically don't want to upgrade my gear until my gear is now limiting me. Once I went to Ireland with only a 50mm/f1.8. Four days with only the footzoom. Frustrating, but I learned to see the world a different - by telling you that I mean to convey the idea that I am caught between continually trying to overcome the shortfalls in my old gear.

    Few from ireland:

This is awesome! I thought it was a paint chip at first.

I think there's a lot of value in having less gear. Most of my favorite pictures are from a beat up 16mp body with a $100 35mm.

If only posting online to share with fam, friends, and forums, 8mp is plenty. That's still 4k resolution. A lot of people don't even have 4k TVs, let alone computer monitors or phone screens.

Thanks man. :) I rotated the pic 180 degrees. Was walking thru a church ruin (where St Patrick ministered) and saw the puddle and noticed the reflection of the church ruin/walls behind me.

It's not a lot about the MP for me, it's about being able to see (whether its real or not) more IQ in relation to the size of image I post, share or print. Do you watch FroKnowsPhoto? While Im a Canon guy and he defers to Nikon, he has a lot of good stuff on his YT channel.

I used to watch him but not much anymore. I enjoy his podcast more than his YouTube content.

Here’s a quick shot from my forge when I was working on a new forcible entry tool for the firehouse.

Went hiking yesterday morning. The forecast called for early storms and the clouds didn't disappoint!

Not a high quality shot (and way too dark), but I thought the setting was cool. Took a trip out to Mid-Ohio Raceway on Saturday and thought the Mustang looked interesting sitting in the middle of a field, lol.

iPhone and a whole bunch of photoshop to get all the lights, highway, and parking lot out of the background. Lol

PS if anyone has any tips on cutting out or preventing lens flares, I would be appreciative!
