Alright Im looking at some 50mm lenses from bhphoto and they have the same exact lens with 2 different prices, about $10 difference. One says imported the other says USA. The US one is more expensive. Is there really any difference?

U.S. market Canon can be sent to the So Cal service center for repairs... Grey market Canon is supposed to be sent to overseas service center... they are pretty much comparable in quality, however, they say you would have issues getting it serviced later if it's the grey market...

    from B&H:
"In most cases the difference between a "USA" and a "Grey Market," or imported product, is the cost of the item and the terms of the item’s warranty coverage. The products themselves are otherwise identical. As a rule, "Grey Market" items cost less than their USA counterparts. "Grey market" products never qualify for manufacturer's rebate programs."

Yeah they are the exact same. Same info and everything.

So basically if you buy the USA one if will be easy to have it repaired or replaced in the future if need be?

If you're looking at the Canon 50 1.8 II, it's not even worth getting repaired. :p

i would think it should be, but i recall a couple colleagues who had to send their cameras international, and one who had to pay full price for service to get the U.S. service center to work on it...

i think if you want to get it done under warranty, you have to send it to country of origin...

once it is passed warranty, then it wouldn't matter where you send it...
