Nice lens, I have been looking for a 2.8 zoom as well. I just don't want to pay for a new 70-200 2.8. I am looking into the 80-200 2.8 AF-D or AF-S because its much cheaper. I didn't even look at any of the 3rd party lenses, maybe I should read up on them.

Here is a pic of my latest gear purchases
    Used D2x (upgraded from a D70s)
    Used 105mm f2.5 AI-S

I tried making a HDR image. I used 5 total images ranging from -2.0 exp to 2.0 exp and overlayed them over the base image at 0 exp. But it doesn't look quite right for some reason

    :notsure:

What program are you using? I use PS and there is an easy shortcut.

Is there one that says Sharpen? If there is then choose unsharp mask. Also using this method you only need one picture. And it doesn't have to be under or over exposed. Just normal exposure.

I was under the assumption that HDR images were created by combining multiple images at various exposure

On a side note this looks like a nifty little lens for people with Nikon DX cameras. Nikon's new Micro-Nikkor 40mm 2.8G

You are right with your assumption. That is how to do a proper HDR, but by doing it the way I told you, it's much easier and produces very very similar images. I make one real quick from a previous picture.
