You'd be surprised, there's a lot of Nikon guys on there. The end result matters more than the tools used to get there ;)

Probably just the price. You'll need a valid student id to get the student editions, otherwise should be same program.

You should be good then. They usually cut students some slack.

GoPro is like a drug - you'll want to mount that camera on everything!

Did a shoot yesterday - not liking the clutter of the gym, but that's the setting she wanted. We'll revisit again outdoors:

on the second photo i would have left more room for her feet.

Aside from more room for feet, I'd try and soften the light a little bit--looks too harsh in the first and blows out the yellow shirt. You can also see a reflection in the second.

Yea that was awful - after straightening the horizon this was the best of the bunch :-(

Lighting was a bit on the bright side, maybe I'll bring down the exposure a tad. I was going for a rim light on the bar set

Are you working with just the flash and no light modifier? If so, make yourself some "barn doors" out of cardboard and gaffer's tape to help light just what you need to.

What would look really cool (my opinion) would be to under expose the bg by maybe a stop and a half then light her with the flash (use something like a 1/4 cut cto gel to warm up the light) from the same direction you're working now.

This should help get de-emphasize the clutter but still let you know it's in a gym plus give you a sportrait look. You might also try shooting from a step stool or ladder--just a step or two though.

Yea that old trick, have to cool the WB of the background as well so the gel'd flashes do their purpose. Thanks for the thought, I'll bring the gels next time and post up here :)
