im an old schooler... i got my start in photography in film... didn't transition into digital until 2004...

my first medium format camera was a Yashica C twin lens reflex...

i still have it in storage at my studio... i kept it for sentimental reasons...

i now shoot with a Mamiya 645e that i got back in 2007

Jake, look into the Mamiya 645e... it's the most basic medium format camera in the newer generation design...

should be able to get them used for relatively dirt cheap... new lenses for it though are going to be pricey still though...

i wanted a 645AF, but settled on something more basic...

i would love a medium format digital, but $25,000 for a body and $5,000 for a lens is just not in the cards for me right now...

I about shit myself when I saw the price for digital backs--and they suck compared to using a 5DMkII/1DsMkIII and a tilt shift.

i actually wanted a medium format digital for my commercial clients... for the ad shoots at my last job, we used a Hasselblad H3D and it put the 35mm digital cameras to shame...

of course, we were using it for 7 foot tall store front signs...

I'm going to bump this up here since our conversation put it 2 pages back:

So if anyone's interested I have a 1st gen 3.4L S/C I'd be willing to trade for some canon equipment for my wife. She's been looking at a 7d or 35mm f1.4L, 24-70mm f2.8L, 85mm f1.8, 50mm f1.4. She has a photography business we started a couple years ago. Its starting to do pretty well and I'd like to get her some better equipment. Here's her website if anyones interested in looking.

My first try at zooming during the exposure, not easy without a tripod.
