lol good, someone needs to stand up to him. You'll never be the best if you tell everyone you are. They'll just think you're self centered.

that is straight retarded, how people can say photos like that are amazing and then photos that we take, that i actually find to be WAY better than that, suck. lol

"your exposure..." "your composition..." "rule of thirds....."

thats why you dont listen to anyone that says you suck at photography. because EVERYONE has a different opinion. as long as you like it, there will be people out there that will too.

    /end pep talk.

I think it's a shot that's special if you shot it. Perhaps as a reminder of a great DS ride. You might frame the shot differently to make it something more. Say from the rear looking over the bike and down the trail or even from the front back to where you came from.

thanks! yeah I was trying to get a cool sunflare effect but it is hard! I probably should have taken the UV filter off.

It was a good ride though, dropped the bike twice

Yea that's the thing about art unfortunately. I tend to run into quite a few of self-titled "pros" or "better than you" people at the arts building here on campus. The good thing, though, is that you're right...everyone has a different opinion so there is no right or wrong!

I almost shit my pants when I saw that picture sold for millions..

    x2 what Jake said...

when i first got my start, there were a number of so called working photogs who told me i didn't know shit, and at the time, i didn't, but that didn't stop me from teaching myself... i spent a lot of time and money at it as these were the days before digital, but i ignored them all...

i used to get a lot of hate emails from folks telling me i sucked and that i needed to go find a day job... once in a while i still get the random email or picture comment that i suck, but that's all part of putting yourself out there...

it was cool though when in August 2002, Shutterbug Magazine did a flattering critique about my work... that group of photogs who initially talked down on me, never said a word to me after that...

keep your nose to the grindstone, and shoot what looks good to you... don't worry about impressing anyone unless they are handing you cash to impress them... it's your art, and keep it that way...

once you get to where i am, you start to lose the passion and art of it all as you essentially have to shoot the way the client wants it shot... the money is cool, but it becomes a job, which is why i love my downtime to take on smaller individual clients...

Wesley, nice job on the water! I'm a sucker for those. The truck looks great from the low angle too.

Here's one from Granite Falls for you.

Nice! I really like em too. I take it for granted. I have beautiful rivers all around me. I really wish I would have had my 18-55 lens on there with those pictures. They were with my 50mm. I let my mom use the 18-55 on the other camera since I upgraded to the 50D. She loves photography too so I took her along. She has a lot to learn though. :)
