Light weight. I'm using a CF tripod. It's also pretty stiff--maybe more so than aluminum.

    Way more expensive too.

I'm looking at some Manfrotto legs, $315 vs $170

I'm going to look some more into it

with the popularity of the 50mm 1.8, it would be a no-brainer for those who can't afford the 1.4

I have both, I love my CF much more then my alum. both are manfrottos, almost the same model, the weight diff. is huge, plus the CF is a little more dead feeling to vibrations, and feels better in the cold weather.

Look for a good used set, or go on POTN (canon forum if your a nikon guy.. LOL) and check there for a used one or check on the hot deals section and see if there are any on sale. I pick up mine for around $200 if I remember right.

You can find some great deals and a lot of the less expensive models are gonna be pretty good value too. One thing to look for is a hook on the column to hang something from. Makes the legs heavier.

I will say this. It's better to save and buy the best legs/head you can afford than to buy a mediocre set that you'll end up hating then buying something else.

For the head, I use a Really Right Stuff BH-55. I don't regret spending bank on it. It will hold almost anything I put on the legs.

also check out the "flash point" CF legs, my friend uses them and those are great too.

Hi guys, I thought I would share this pic with you guys. I thought it was pretty good. I'm no photographer, I know the rules of 3 thing that my wife and mom have told me about. I also took this with my phone. But figured I could see what you guys think.

Also liked this one, because of my son being like a shadow almost.

This one was inspired by you Colin. I wanted to try it. Sadly my buddy was not very cooperative and right in the last 5 seconds of the exposure he turned around and asked if he was done. :frusty: Oh well. I am happy with it.

Got some firework shots too. We didn't have the tubes to shoot them out of so they just lit them and ran and I took pictures
