So i did a fitness modeling shoot. So much different than anything I've ever shot, i honestly don't consider the photos to be that great. It's so hard to make shadows but still be able to light up your subject. idk.... some feedback please, I've been working on this shot for almost 2 hours now. don't mind the background.

The face seems to have too much fill in flash, it's a little to bright for me, it's not a nice even light if you know what I mean?

His Body being darker than his face throws it off a little.

Next time you're shooting someone really defined you could try an off camera flash without a diffuser...it will really cast some defining shadows of the musculature. A great back light would be good, too. Nice job though!

Jake, I know you sound to ignore the background, but I think a black background would've made it stand out more.

What are you trying to accomplish with this shot?

I guess if it were me, I would shoot it differently. For one, I'd move the subject off the background. Then probably shoot with a big soft box or window to provide some side light (key). Then a small flash off the bg and a beauty dish or something overhead for hair light.

Depending on how you set the key light, you can make shadows across the body and still keep your subject well lit.

    idk about fixing in PS.

If you light it, you don't really need a black background because you can make it black (underexpose).

How much post did you do to this? Seems like his skin has a lot of dodging and burning in certain areas. Not sure if it was in the post, the lighting, or just him.

I think a high/low key B&W would give more definition to him. And like theTupper said try using flash without a diffuser, it will give more highlight/shadows.

    Just my 2 cents.
