Get a Seagull instead of the Rolli. You can find them for $200 or less.

tamron brand was recommended to me by a local camera shop and was looking for a lens sold by best buy so i can get 0% financing..

i'm used to the kit lenses that came with my rebel t1i, so most all lenses are an upgrade from the kit.

but i'll add that lens brand to the list...i'm slowly working on building a nice setup, but camera funds are limited right now..truck absorbs most my money

For some reason your tamron looks suspiciously soft.... too soft. not to tell you, you bought the wrong lens or anything, but maybe consider exchanging it for the tokina. its the best wide angle (third party) on the market in the price range....

Well I shoot in raw most of time, so yes I do. I try not to over process them tho unless I'm going for that look, like a HDR or something, most night shots and lightning just get noise reduction, and that's about it.

Wouldn't be surprised, my tamron 10-24 is soft up until around f8 ~ f11 , I'm actually about to get rid of it, I"ve read the same from others as well. Will be getting a Sigma 10-20mm instead (no tokina available for me). Tamron's 17-50 f2.8 & 70-200 f/2.8 are not bad though...

Soft means not sharp. This happens when the focus is slightly in front of or behind the focus point. With micro adjust, you should be able to fix it.

If you're adept at reading the various lens charts, you should also be able to determine at what aperture a lens will perform best (as a general rule, lens performance suffers at either end of the aperture range and at either end of the focus range).
