darn EF-S, I have the 50MM 1.8 and like it. As other stated it will work on the FF camera's like the 5D, 5D MII, 5D MIII and the 1D's. I didnt even know about the 55-250 is that an EF-S lens?

Only EF-S lens i own is the 10-22mm and its amazing, no crazy barrel distortion and shoots great landscapes, but i bought it when i didnt know any better and would have opted for a sigma wide angle lens instead nowadays.

The 55-250 is an EF-S lens.

The 10-22 gets great reviews. Why would you say "before I knew any better" if it does well for you?

Great shots Ian. I am curious...I don't know that you've ever posted it...what gear do you have? Camera and lenses wise.

    Thanks Wes!

    I shoot Canon. For this, I shot a 1Dmkiii with a 70-200 and a 1Dsmkiii with a 16-35. For a few of these, I shot handheld with a 300 f/2.8 on the 1Dmkiii.

Only because when I purchased it I didn't know that the EF-S was for the crop sensor cameras only. I mainly shoot with the 5D MIII and MII now so I can only use that lens with the 7D. Great lens for sure!!

You have some amazing action shots above Ian. That's pretty impressive handheld on a 300mm, and were you wide open at 2.8? And able to track them without having them leave the DOF. Nice work!!!

    Thanks Phil!

Wide open. IS off and a polarizer (the little drop in dealio) in the lens. idk how useful the drop in polarizers are-anyway, higher shutter speeds cause you get arm pump with that lens :D

I have a lot of missed shots. Some are OOF because I wasn't able to lock focus in a very short section of track (100' or so). Some of that is the mkiii's shitty AF; it's a problem that I've had to learn to deal with

The guys riding in Novice-pro group were awesome. I didn't get exactly what I want for this shot but I know what I'm going to do next time.

Just to give you an idea of how I got this. I am standing on the edge of the track leaning into it. The rider is coming straight at me on the outside of the turn. Picked up a lot of roost trying to get something-mud in the hair, all over my gear and all over me-it was a rush

BTW, what I did with the Novice-pro group, I would *not* do with any other group-it's risky enough with the Novice-pro group.

Yes having the riders coming straight at you and then slamming breaks, making the turn and hammering the throttle would be scary for anyone standing where you were!!!

some motion on the rear tire with mud flying sky high would have been a nice touch but thats a very small window, were you just blazing through high speed bursts to get shots?

At that point, the rider isn't really on the gas yet. As the rear wheel comes parallel with me and the rider exits the corner, you start to see some roost.

Sick! How badass is the 300mm? I really still wanna grab a longer lens just for the hell of it...but no way in hell will I be able to afford a 2.8 at this time :pout:

Yeah. It was a tough pill to swallow. I've shot sport and wildlife with it. Really like the way images look with it.
