Thank, man. I'm excited to get them. They'll be here Wed.

    Similar here:

    D5100
    16-85
    35 1.8
    70-300

Plan is to pick up a 10-24 and 50 1.8 and sell the 5100 for a 7100 and call it good.

I don't entirely discount everything he says, but I just about discount most of what he says haha read something he mentions that sucks horribly then go read his review on it and he'll say it's the best thing ever invented. Too much flip flopping and "extremes". everything is either the greatest ever, no contest, best thing in universe! or else complete and utter crap, total waste of funds, and retarded haha the guy says some dumb junk too. You can't just bash styles other than your own and say nothing works but what works for you . . .

No. I just wanted a wide angle and went looking on dpreview and the-digital-picture. I like their reviews the best.

I just bought the 16-85 and 70-300. I'm loving both of them so far.

Going to upgrade bodies next and then pick up a 10-24 :)

In other news, I've been getting my 11 year old brother into photography and he's picking it up really fast. He is naturally artistic and creative and loves to learn:

Invest in better glass before you get a new body

    edit:

what is better glass? faster glass: zooms(constant aperture) or primes(f2 or faster), glass for FF coverage(in the event you decide to go full frame in the future, you can use these lenses on your new body), weather sealing, coatings on glass, etc.

No lol I appreciate advice from people who have been around but I'm not dropping $1200+ on a single lens so no 2.8s for me. I'm completely content with the glass I have. I have one more lens I really want, and I'm sure as this develops and I grow as a photographer something else may appeal to me, but I don't want or need gigantic, 2.8, thousand dollar+ lenses. I could LT the Pickup but in the end it's just a capable DD. Same thing with the camera. I love it, it's enjoyable and I like improving, but I'm not dropping several thousand on lenses to be  when I don't need it.

I'm content with my crop sensor and 1.8 primes

How so? I like my friends D7000s and am looking at them since they're so cheap right now or perhaps even seeing if the 7100 price drops at all. I'm in no hurry but if I want to upgrade to a weather sealed body with a few extra features/better performance than I would say that merits a new body someday, yes?

I don't see an issue with wanting to upgrade to something "lower/middle rather than "pro or go home." Perfect performance/featured and size/weight for my personal application and needs.
