Nice pics. Only thing I would say is watch your exposure. (I'm not good at it myself. )

Hi all. I am new to photography, my father gave me a very old Canon from the 90's. Thing is such a beautiful camera, it was over 2000$ at one point he told me, not sure if cameras were that much. It's so old school most of the writing is worn off from his use. The lens is ridiculous. I am maybe less than a week new to taking pics like this. Feedback please!
I live in Portland Maine, on Cushings Island in the summer here is the first pic at the civilian dock.

My uncle owns this tug boat, and has 12 employees here in Maine. He brings in some of the largest barges here, coming from singapore, africa, and europe. The Barges carry all types of fuel: jet, racing, home oil, regular gasoline, and some freight.

Truly an honor to live in this state, and have a house on a private Island.

On the first one I would have brought it to the right just far enough to get that stick with the writing out of the frame. That would have shown more of the trail on the right as well and possibly made a continuous flowing leading line.

Second pic, perhaps zoomed in a bit more or cropped out some of the dead space later.

All from one relative noob to another though.

Thank you. The second pic I knew I should have zoomed in more! Came out a tid bit fuzzy to not sure why?

First pic, I agree with bringing it to the right some more. Maybe I should have zoomed out a little bit too?

Photography is no joke hard, I use to criticize photographers saying it was easy, but once I tried myself, it's hard and a pain in the arse! But fun and relaxing.

Looks like old gear! Thats what the fuzziness if from. I have some old F lenses from a A1 Canon and they are all fuzzy looking. Or..a better way to put it, not as sharp as the newer lenses. Im sure part of that is due to Image stabilization but most is just new tech in general.

still a cool effect though. Im sure once you get used to it you'll get some awesome shots.

haha, hey, man. I'm just enjoying a hobby. Not showing off, just excited to get new gear :) But yeah, you are doing it wrong, since you're more seasoned at this I'll take one for the team and trade you for that "lesser" digit camera of yours. :D

he he. just tryna pump you guys up, is all ;-). no one upping here.

edit: it's about the gear, it's how you use it. I've given props to those with kit lenses(here). I know I am at a crossroads with my hobby of mine(delve into off camera lighting, or go medium format digital, or both. at least one strobe off camera)

I am willing, to give AND take constructive criticism. there are others here that are talented.
