The *Official Photography Thread*

It's probably a mile long, possibly two mile long strip and people from all over come and just park anywhere they can get, its a 4-5 day thing. Pretty awesome. They have two shows, one is Shades of the Past which is more of the classic muscle cars, and then this one that I went to is the Grand Run which is anything and everything. Classic, rat rod, hot rod, super car just about anything. They have a spring run and a fall run, so 4 shows a year. They are sweet, so many nice cars, and people everwhere. I go to the fall run, but went to both spring and fall this year, and it's always a blast.

 

Yeah I saw that review too. I seen to be set on that last version though. If I'm spending the money on a fast lens I want the faster focus too. Compare it to yours if you happen across one somewhere and see what you think. I'd rather have a Nikon anyway. Used Nikon>New Tamron.

I've shot with both the VRI and VRII. There is a huge difference in performance. The VRI vignettes slightly on FX and isn't as sharp. The VRII is crazy fast and crazy sharp

 

medic: i know someone who has the vri, albeit it has fungus damage (costs 600 to clean from nikon). it STILL takes awesome shots though. now that i have mine, i should go test the two on just the focus ability alone.

Funny how the zooms compress the image. You liking the Sigma 70-200?

You did know there was a $100 rebate on the 70-200 didn't you?

I loved it before, this is the first time iv had the OS ver. I dont like the zoom is backwards like Canon.. but other than that, it will get alot of use, yeah I got 150$ Off... All of the sigma glass is on sale.

Pretty old article I came across but I hope this guy is right. D800 files are just too stinkin big IMO (for my use) and a combo of the D800 and D4 (like the D700) features would be perfect for a lot of people I think.

I doubt that'll happen, the sales of that body would be cannibalized by the D600 line

The storage issue is easily remedied by external storage. Unless you are shooting like me (10-12,000 images a year) there really isn't a issue with the file size.

 

It would cannibalize the D800 and D4 as well, but I sure would like an in between

I don't think it is happening either, I just saw it and shared. It'd be more fitting for me.


There is the 610 and I guess a 5300 already in the works. 5300 is supposed to just get a couple features like WiFi and GPS, yet no signs the 610 will have em (all supposed/rumors). I for one don't want a bunch of fancy features but I can see how others might. One of the reasons I didn't bother with the Canon I was looking at is that the "better than" portions were all silly fun features to me. I don't need wifi or touch screen or whatever personally.

I have to say, full frame, the 5D MkIII is well rounded, but I still far prefer the ergos of Nikon to Canon. Simply preference most likely, but there's no contest to my hands haha As far as Crop sensor goes, I don't think there is presently a D7100 competitor that is much to talk about.
