rented a Canon 70-200 f4 IS lens for a week! Of course i'd love to play with the 2.8 2 model but its definitely not affordable for me... Next week should be fun :D I'll be sure and upload my findings

I literally tried my hand at my first two HDR photos ever about an hour ago haha I'm fully aware that these aren't the best ever, but I'm enjoying HDR editing and will likely play with this a lot. It fits me well and I really think I may make this my main thing for a little while until I have a better hang of it.

    Here's the two I took.

Are you taking multiple exposures? What software are you doing your editing with?

BTW Buzzards, how many bracket sets are you shooting and is your bracket more than one stop both ways? I've sort of gathered that you shoot like 3 bracket sets for 9 shots total? Looks good man! Anyone else who's got the HDR down pretty well chime in too! Monte I know you'rs looked damn good when i saw em...

Nice! i didn't order one soon enough for this weekend so im gonna try and see if one is at the local store for the weekend..

Nah i only shot 3 picss per shot for mine.

-2ev, 0, +2ev was all i used. Photomatrix is a great program and easy to use to get great results.

i found the more shots i used the more "cartooney" they looked. unless its really dark out..shouldn't need more then 3 for most shots.

Same here. -2, 0, +2 for those two shots. I did one in my house as a test with -2, -1, 0, +1, +2 and it didn't look too good. I will keep playing with different steps but that seems to be the staple to go off of.

I also used Photomatix Pro and then pulled the shots over to Lightroom to give some finishing touches.

Think of the composing and taking the photo as choosing your page from the color book of life and the post-processing as coloring it however you please :D haha

Yeah I'm using three shots -2, 0, +2. I don't have Photomatix so I'm just using PS CS6 with the merge to HDR option. I do minor adjustments when PS imports the raw files in. I haven't taken them back into LR for anything else.

It's pretty easy to setup the D7000 for a 9 shot sequence with the U1 and U2 memory spots, I just haven't done it.

yea hoping to go there..its a long ways away though but i wanna support my fellow gym mates. Would like the 70-200 2.8..but we will see how much it costs..much more expensive the rentglass..

the key to shooting the HDR is really act like your shooting normal..so shoot apeture priority and just go about your business like normal..just have the stops set and have it on multi shot..and just take 3 at a time..but other then that..just act like your shooting it like normal. i played a lot with different f stops for some mainly to make sure i had some that where a bit different to get the best results of sets. Make sure you have a tripod too. For darker images, i set up the tripod and put on the 2 second timer..and you just focus once..let it shoot the -2ev. then immediately after the second shutter closes hit the shutter again and it'll do the 0ev one..repeat for the +2. Worked well for the dark shots.

thats my process too. Put it itn Photomatrix pro and then sometimes into LR5 for more touches..usually just for watermarks though..haha Photomatrix does a good job.

Your local shop rents stuff? That's nice that they do still, the last place I was in out here didnt... and yea rentglass is probably the cheapest place out there. Excited to see what kind of improvements besides the zoom and what I think i'll get.
