my MIL is getting into it and is pretty good. her nephew asked her to shoot his wedding. If it was me, i would have said no, but she said yes. While she is good, i don't think she is anywhere near good enough or have the right equipment to shoot a wedding.

Thats exactly what I think. I dont like taking pictures of people, let alone expected to take "professional" shots of people.

Kind of depends on what other options they have. If the MIL doesn't do it will they just have some guy with a P&S or will they hire a pro?

I assume that the nephew is wanting a free, decent, but not pro job. Been there done that.

Weddings are a pain in the ass. I did a few way back there. I wouldn't ever want to do them anymore though.

    What haven’t I changed?
A couple of years ago my friend asked me to help shoot his sister's wedding. I told him he should have just paid a professional and made that into a wedding gift, but long story short, he procrastinated and I ended up doing it in exchange for him paying my airfare and room and board for that weekend. It helped that the couple's expectations were pretty low (it was a low budget affair), and honestly that's about the only reason I agreed to do it. They provided a list of must-have shots (ring exchange, bride in her dress, etc.), but simply by watching the entire event through a lens we were able to capture those moments anyway. In the end, they loved their photos, and that's all that matters.

One of my favorites from the set, light painting with sparklers and moonlight:

I did turn it down. I'm not interested in ruining someones wedding.

Buy the program if you can - get an education discount.

I don't even think lightroom is on a subscription plan yet...could be wrong

you can use 2. But usually works best with 3 or more. You usually want one to get the super darks, and one for the super brights. But you should always have a shot just like you would shoot it normally. So you could do the normal shot and add just the dark if ya wanted.

but the camera shoots 3 automatically so no reason not too really. My sunset shot for that challenge week1 was just 2 photos for HDR though since the sun had blasted everything as it was.

If you just bracket the photos for +2 and -2 EV then it shoots the middle one automatically. YOu set up your camera and shot like normal. then i set it to fire with the 2 second self timer and it fires all three photos in a row.

    Subscription? wth?

LR is a DL program or disk only..

the Adobe Cloud thingy is a waste. Just get LR.

Yeah it's available on the cloud subscription. I'd rather have the program though.

I agree with the cloud unless you really want PS and can't buy it outright.

i read not so good reviews with the cloud thing..rather own the program anyways.

yea i have done that too. If you process it with different exposures.

jpeg i can't imagine it working well with..but RAW it doesn't work bad. Not nearly as good though.

i think he was just asking about two different exposures though.

Yeah, this was back when I converted raw using DPP because my camera wasn't supported yet by Adobe. Now I just work on raw in Lightroom.

    Lots...see build
Oh ok, very cool. I'll see if I can rig something up because I have the straps already. It'd be nice to support the lens itself instead of just the body...

Ok, that makes sense. So what setting do you use to shoot 3 different exposures automagically? Mine doesn't shoot three shots when it's on a 2 second self timer...
