    Fishtank is a great idea.

Did you use a mirror to compose? That is the ONE thing that had me taking a 2nd serious look at the D5300 before pulling the trigger on the D7100... the pivoting LCD is a really nice touch.

I saw that... Camera supports it internally, no receiver needed?

Curious how one of the D7100 packages at B&H includes the Vello 2.4Ghz pair which is $60:
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/753842-REG/Vello_RWII_N_FreeWave_Plus_Wireless_Remote.html

It also takes up the hot shoe, so not so good if you need a flash (since it will be in the way of the pop-up).

Camera supports it. I mostly used it from point blank for tripod work but a few times from a distance. Its the cheapest option obviously ha not the "best"

That's funny... the MC-DC2 wired remote costs $5 more than the IR remote.

Does the IR remote lock for the "B" setting or not?
I've been happy with my MC-DC2 and almost always use it for tripod work.

I'm glad the D7100 and D3100 use the same connector... wife and I can share gear.
The interval timer is hers now, but if I need a timed exposure over 30s, then I can always use it, meanwhile, it stays in her bag and frees up room in my backpack (which is stuffed).

What did the originals look like before processing?

Way too much post processing. When doing HDR less is more. Also, clean your sensor or at least edit out the dust.

The 3 dark/black ones really look like dust.

I probably need to clean my sensor and it is not editing I used an HDR paint mode on my camera to get it like that.

Not actually 100% positive it's dust, but I find it very distracting. Usually sensor dust gets very exaggerated once you start messing with the levels and contrast etc.

Tell me about it, I own a d600 so I know all about sensor dust. Counted 18 pieces a few weeks back. Luckily Nikon has agreed to change out all D600 shutters at no cost after a class action law suite was filed a while back.

In Camera HDR is editing. If you really like that look you could go a little more extreme and cartoon it. Try out a few free filters or try "Toonit".
