    still messing around with aperature and isos

    kept the iso at 100, upped the aperture, something I had forgotten to mess with, and set up a 20 second exposure to try and get a long city-shot with a bit of sky
    pretty satisfied with how it came out. just gotta wait for another epic sunset now

    Altitude is the one thing I was lacking on both trips.

    Surprising, but the wind-blown dust-laden skies 80 miles west of Phoenix produced a much better result than the canyon heading to Carlsbad Caverns, despite the fact that http://djlorenz.github.io/astronomy/lp2006/overlay/dark.html showed it to be much better.
    The fires (torches) in the oil fields killed it.

    Equatorial mount would do the trick though... or stacked but using the stars as a reference rather than a fixed object, then 'shop in the foreground... which I always felt was cheating. IMHO, if it can't be done in the camera with only modest post, it's "fake"

    Thats great to hear! My laptop from 07-08 is finally on its last legs and i have a walmart one for now....i'm only buying a little time before i have to get something serious....

    Got a new i5 HP last August.
    Hated to retire the old machine, but honestly, I built it for Quake-3 and Counterstrike.
    I think my Samsung smartwatch has more power... the computer had more than 1ghz processor, but I don't think it had 4gb of memory.
