There were no dark shots. The storm was a ways away, so I had the sensitivity turned way up, so I got a lot of lit up cloud shots where there were no bolts visible. It took a little bit to get it dialed in, but once I did, I would say I tossed about half of what I got.

Yeah. The first one is 5 images, the second one is 7. I thought it was just the wind moving the trees, but it looks like the horizon is screwed up too. I will have to go look for the rogue shot.

either way those are bad ass shots! one thing i miss about my old apartment is a great view over the plains to see storms many miles away

 

Figured. Tripod isn't study enough. I suffer from the same issue. Need to bite the bullet and get a stout one. Makes a huge difference for stacks and HDR photos.

Did you use photoshop to stack them? You can move the layers to fix anything..have to crop it a bit after but would line up the horizon.

All the star stacking I have been doing haha

They are still sweet shots. Makes me want a Nero all the more.

 

If this is a problem, try suspending your camera bag from underneath to weigh it down.

If you have a column, some have a small hook for that. You can also lock the mirror up and definitely use a remote release.

 

My tripod is pretty sturdy, I may have moved it while I was fiddling with it. Although I do need to buy a head that is for cameras, mine will not turn the head sideways to do portrait shots. I actually used starstax to stack them . I need to install my PS, but I kind of want to get a new computer first, so I can stop using my wife's laptop.

 

Mine is too light but also the head is crap. The mounting plate moves a bit inside the holder. But I wasn't expecting awesomeness from 20 bucks haha

Ha! I gotta say I wasn't happy with starstax. Went straight to ps after first use. You'll like it once you get around to it
