I shoot Nikon for my private use and have since the early 70's. Canon at work. I don't have any white for my Canon. :)

lol At least they are moving their camera's up in the world. I'm not impressed with what Nikon just came out with. I know Ben.

Eh that's how I felt when canon real asked their last batch. Hopefully this new one will be better.

I'd like to know why Nikon released a D750 when it is clearly an upgrade to the D6xx series and not the D7xx series. Should have been a D650 but of course it would probably kill their D6xx line if they did that. It has 51 focus points and they are tighter grouped than the other FF camera's. Maybe to enhance it's low light focusing ability to -3ev. Still the D750 doesn't compete with the D7xx series.

That 7D looks mighty impressive. The D750 has a shockingly fast 6.5 FPS. The D700 would up it's FPS to 8 FPS with the battery grip connected. The new one doesn't and it's labeled as a prosumer camera.

It depends largely on what kind of focus points. Some are more accurate (cross point). On some Canon models, for example, the outer focus points aren't quite as accurate as the center or or corner points. And more FP give you better expansion when using a single point and with expansion turned on. Adjusting the speed at which the camera re-acquires can improve performance too-for example, slowing down will hold focus (in AI mode) when the subject drifts off the focus point or out of the focus area for a tiny bit longer-if you shoot fast moving objects this is a win as when you're panning and cross an object that is closer or the subject drifts away from your FP, the camera shifts focus and you lose the shot.

So having more points is better.

^^ nice, how do you like it? I was intrigued by the A7 because of the resolution and Dynamic range. Probably better off with the D800e though. You shoot Canon as well right?

Yes. Almost always Canon. The Lumix is OK. I'd put it in the good compact camera category. I should try it at night some time.

I still have many of my old prime lens from my first Nikon. I occasionally take them out and shoot them on my D300. Not great but I like the shallow depth of field. I find the images very limited to work with in photoshop.

Any of you still have your old film cameras? I can't seem to bring myself to get rid of mine. I guess there are still people that shoot them. My list: Nikon F2 Photomic, Mamiya RB67 Pro S, Hasselblad 500cm, Calumet 4x5 CAMBO studio and a Crown Graphic 4x5. I spent a lot of time in the dark room processing film and prints.

2 Pentax K-3's. Needed something for banging around in the woods and fields hunting and chasing wildlife. And temps down to 30's below zero F. Think tank holster with chemical heat pack in the bottom and top flap are able to keep the battery and LCD screen working, well for awhile at least. Limited on more than a few things with Pentax but knew that going into it.

First camera was a Canon AE-1 that I picked up in Japan with 4 lenses for next to nothing. Of course I got paid next to nothing then too. :(

I have an old Nikon EM and an Olympus 35 ED as far as film goes. I shoot Fujifilm otherwise. I tried m4/3 and loved the AF speed and many features but wasn't pleased with the files. Sony has great sensors but the bodies are meh to me and the len lineup is horrid haha

Oh, I forgot all about my AE-1 from around 1971'ish. That was my entry into 35mm. Bought mine from a Japanese friend at college for about $50 with two lenses IIRC. Had no clue what I was doing and wasted a lot of shots. Gotta start somewhere!
