Wow, that second one looks WAY over sharpened once on Flickr. I need to see if I did something wrong with the upload because it doesn't look that way in LR.

 

Looks fine on my phone. I'll check it out on the computer in a bit.

Just looked on the computer. I like the second one even better. Ultra sharp and crisp just like I like.

 

Okay, maybe it's just my eyes. Once it popped up on TW it seemed way over sharpened.

Nice shot Ian. I have never shot the sun like that, had to use a filter yes? 10 stop?

Great shots Colin, I dig that train.

 

I used a solar filter which blocks more than 10 stops of light. It says something like 1/100,000th makes it through-you can't really see anything but the sun with it on

 

Cool.

 

It's interesting that some astro observations use colored filters to provide emphasis on objects. I hadn't thought about that until yesterday as I was digging the solar filter out. Might need to try that with a Milky Way shot.

LOVE IT! Its a big bitch to carry around, but its sharp, the VC is awesome and the focus is pretty quick too.

I have a Canon D70 along with a EFS 18-135 & EF 50mm 1:18. What is a good wide angle lens to add?

 

Probably the 10-22 efs lens. Do you like zooms or perfer prime lenses?
