Ben great job, even better than last year :)

At one time I spent $999 on a 16mb SIMM for my Mac to upgrade it. That was dealers cost as a VAR. About the same time I was reading MacWorld and an article said imaging would not be viable on Macs or PC's until spinning disk dropped down to $1 a Mb. Yeah like that was ever going to happen! I had just spent the day in Atlanta installing an Optical Jukebox (WORM) for a corporation. Upgrading RAM long term was not money well spent to be honest, although we used to say that a person can never have enough money or RAM. It reaches a point it is time to refresh. At that time it would be wise to evaluate your needs. Basic needs analysis, and add cost benefit to it also.

My oldest son has his third and final interview with Apple on Jan. 6. I have dealt with both Mac and PC's, and midrange and mainframe for a long time. You like Macs because your familiar with them and the plug and play of hardware is better than than Windows plug and pray, which is because Apple is proprietary. They went open for a short time when Steve left Apple but it cost them too much in support so they shut that down quickly. When Macs were SCSI there was a huge advantage in I\O over windows. But there is no real advantage anymore. They are going to cost a lot more for the ease of convenience. And Windows isn't that bad with device drivers anymore. Don't get me wrong I hate all OS's equally, if you don't then you just don't have enough experience with them LOL. With that said in May I'd also evaluate Windows and what you can get at that time Windows 10 should be out by then. Not to be confused with Mac OS X :)

Hard drives go bad even in a SAN or NAS, that is why you have hot standbys in the drive bays. External drives go bad a bit more often IME from all the moving around, connection and disconnection I suspect. But they are fairly cheap. I moonlight some and usually have the companies rotate between 2 external drives then use off site storage for the idle drive. With NAS I prefer a SAN head and fiber. For home users network (wifi) is going to be the bottleneck a home NAS is more than fine. Although you don't have offsite storage and backup. SSD's have come a long ways in dependability in a short time and love them for OS, apps and swap space (or scratch in nix\mac).

    Boom.

I just woke up to a firmware update. :D

It's like I have a new camera for free!

Favorite new goodies so far are the 100% silent electronic shutter up to 1/32,000th, and the AF+MF override so I can tweak my AF with focus peaking if I want. :)

So stoked to hit the streets with the screen off and the silent shutter ha basically zero light or sound :) okay, done sharing my joy haha

I walked Downtown Lincoln for about an hour and a half a couple nights ago before I left town. There's absolutely no street photography here in South Dakota so I gave it one last go before I left. Nothing special here, just wanted to share a few I shot the other night.

It's more about the process for me. Like I said, nothing special, but I needed the walk and stress relief of walking around focused on something other than real life :p haha

hey guys, Just picked up my Tacoma at the beginning of the year, now that its all modded i feel like i can finally be a part of the forum. Anyway, long time photog here, going on 8 years. I shoot everything... Started with shooting static cars (as i was building my Subaru - to document the progress), got into land/seascapes, then to macro, then began to shoot the Formula Drift series (for 3 years). Here are just some of my favorites over the past few years. Open to any questions and photography talk! Hope to be more of a contributor to this thread since photog is a passion.

Thanks! years of going to events, working weekends for 12 hr days and a few hundred cars. you end up with a lot of practice. ive had a handful of 1/10th hand held pans, in sharp focus, albeit it took about 50 tries to nail it.

drift cars are a pain, not only are you trying to pan, but the car is sliding and changing direction constantly. it ends up being difficult to get those suppper slow pans. 1/30th seems to be the sweet spot for most corners.

then again, if the driver is a GOOD drifter and keeps excellent control, it makes our job easier from the panning end.

Thanks man. glad someone noticed the post processing. that was a hell of an edit. shoot my subie in a lot, light painted several layers, added in everything, then the entire background etc was pulled from a 4th of july shoot i did. i think the entire edit came out to about 5 hrs PP. Some times its worth the effort... :p
