appreciate it man, thank you. Autocross is a great place to practice too. i have a Porsche club locally that does that all the time, used to go out there every few saturdays since i knew a few of the guys that ran the event. you can still shoot the event with any glass!

i am often times at f7.1-f16 depending on light and speed (with a few ND filters stacked) so its not like you need a 2.8 lens or anything. ;)

Well its more of a matter of reach for me :p haha i have a 18-135 kit lens which is okay, but i have abused it badly and it needs work done. Something is loose in it and gets in the way of the auto focus motor. Makes me miss a lot of shots. And i would like something with a bit more reach for some of that stuff.

Other wise all i have is a 50mm prime and 10-18mm haha

ive used my 24-70 quite a bit for AX, but i hear you on reach.. often times the 70-200 isnt enough for me. which i ended up picking up an 80-400.

really depends on track layout and who you know/how close you can get. One corner of the Long Beach Formula D, the last corner photogs are about 5-10 ft away. i was using a 17-35mm for that.

another tip... pre focus. i also use back button focusing, often pre focus first, then continuously tracking as i pan. that way i don't start the pan with the lens fishing back and forth.

Yea hell id be estatic with a 70-200..haha money..damn..

I have tried pre focusing and then tracking. My 60D does okay and i get lucky on occasion. but i don't do it enough to be really good at it..haha oh well.

drifting shots are mostly luck.... i get a few more keepers than normal though cuz im shooting with a Nikon D3s (like 9 frames a second?) i must shoot 2 thousand photos at an event, and after sorting while shooting, i come home with 600 or so. Then filter those down to the coolest/sharpest 100-200 for publishing. LOL

yea barely 5 a second here :p haha

Well my audio professors say that that is all professional audio gear is good for..its makes the margins for error bigger making work easier.

    same goes here.

If i was doing it professionally it would be a different story, but just a hobby for me.

welcome though! gonna be fun having you around.

LOL. I shot that at a practice session. Needless to say, I would be very reluctant to do that with someone I didn't know or beginners.

Really nice man! What's you're lighting setup on this one?

Really sweet shots! I really like the night shot. I tend to want to shoot at night more than anything. I just really like being out at night and everything is just silent and seems to have a little more impact with the lighting.

lighting setup..... just a cheap 40 bulb LED light i bought on Amazon. I think its meant for video, offers different brightness settings.

anyway, just did about 10 different car layers, several angles and intensities, walked around car with it in 10 second exposure intervals. aka light painting.

no fancy strobes or studio setups, just a cheap ass LED light and a ton of post processing.

    Thanks for the compliments.

My dog Subie wanted to wish all the photogs at TW a merry xmas. ;)
i told her she could be whatever she wanted... so she became a reindeer.

shot with: Nikon D3s, 50mm f1.4D, and an AB800 strobe pointed at the ceiling.
