Question: How bright/dark do you guys put your screen when editing pictures?

I use LR5 and always have my screen at its brightest setting. I have a 3, going on 4, year old laptop and calibrating the screen is pretty useless because I don't think it makes a difference since I can't see any significant changes after calibration. When I browse on my phone and look at the pictures I've posted it looks different, skin color wise. The skin tone looks more orange on my phone than it does on my laptop and I remember reading somewhere not long ago, on Photography on the Net, a member telling another member asking for CC to make sure his monitor is dimmed a bit when doing PP.

Thanks! I don't venture over to the coast much during winter time and man was it cold! Sun was out but the wind was killer.

Any experts on printing here? I submitted some photos to a contest and now they want printed copies. I'm learning about printing, however they are due to them in a few weeks so I don't have time to mess around.

I'm looking to outsource the printing of course, but I'm finding that my pictures are going to need a custom size to keeps the proportions correct (which is important) - and finding that the choices of labs that will do this are limited - just looking for advice.

I already know about monitor calibration, etc. - more just looking for advice on the custom size printing, etc. Thanks!

This was a moment at work a while back that just caught me as nice. Its a local dam just after dawn before the fog burns off, had never see it like this before. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1452550970.276630.jpg

 Wish I was there now taking ice pictures. I spend several weeks on the NS grouse hunting with the dogs each year. Got to spend 3 weeks there this year.

Great shots. The north shore is amazing no matter what time of year!! My brother hunts up there near Schroeder! I usually just fish.
