What up y'all. I been able to get up out of bed enough to shoot. Had a couple clients fall into my lap the past week and while it hurt my body afterwards, I couldn't pass up the chances to get my hands wrapped around my camera. This whole post is full of innuendos, huh?

Loving it. I'm actually on set at the moment using it (taking a break at this moment technically speaking).

Hello all photogs here! I am in no way shape or form a pro. I don't aim to make any income from this. But I'd like to move up from my Nikon DX format to a full frame. I'm not going to break the bank and go whole hog with a D5....

But I would like something quality. I'd be mostly doing landscapes. (I work in Yosemite NP). And I'm really wanting to try some astrophotography.
The D810a is made specifically for that but I'm concerned about the reviews that point out the red hue on daytime photos.

What are your suggestions? And yes, I'm staying with Nikon.

I would definitely recommend the D810. It can still do astrophotraphy just fine and it is great for landscape. It currently has the best dynamic range on the market at it's low end ISO. It's also on sale on various websites.

an astrophotography modded DSLR has no IR filter so that its more sensitive to 'h-alpha' which is a deep deep red/near IR color thats nearly invisible to the human eye. normal DSLR's have these filters because the eye can't see those colors, and if the camera did, then the color balance would be wrong. you can use a IR filter on the front of your lenses to compensate for this. a friend with a astromodified modified Canon EOS has an insert that fits /behind/ the lenses which holds filters, not only a IR filter for daylight photography, but he also has narrowband and r/g/b filters for doing component photography.
