I take the screens out of my windows each fall so that every little bit of sunlight can come through in the winter. Also comes in handy when you see something you want to take a picture of and just open the window and fire away. This was behind my truck this morning out the kitchen window.

I took that as a good sign so headed to the river in search of an eagle to shoot. Found one that was willing to play.

LOL in a word no. But in the summer when the mosquito which should be the State Bird shows up and biting black flies, I put them back in. After a good cleaning to still allow as much light as possible ;-)

Realized I never uploaded this from last years trip to Japan... Blossums were out of season but still have a few cool ones.
Even met a new "Photography hero" if you will. The retired Fire Chief took up photography and now does some amazing work for I believe Nat Geo.
Any way.. here's a few of my favorites...

Hiroshima, is... breath taking. A massive park in the middle of a large city and it's... eerie how quite it is.

Figured I might have some luck here...

I have a Joby ball head mount on my tripod with the quick release. That quick release is the same as what is on top of the gorillapod so I can easily switch between both of them. I wanted to find that bottom plate with a female bolt fitting so I could screw it onto the top of a monopod. But it seems like a phantom piece. The only thing I have found was one for a flash, but it is too small.

So what I am looking for is just the plate that this quick release plate clips into. This piece is whats on the bottom of the camera. Any ideas other than having to buy something and take the top part off of it.

most tripod heads attach to the tripod with the larger 3/8-16 'rollie' thread, instead of the 1/4-20 thread used for small cameras.

I don't think you'll have much luck, those quick release bases aren't even removable from the ballhead are they?

what do you guys think of minolta lenses? I just bought a 28-100 f3.5-4.5 Minolta A mount for my a300 and it seems to be pretty good so far, I mainly got it because it was cheap and my autofocus on the 18-70 I had was shot.

I had some old Minolta MD (?) pre-autofocus glass back when I had an old Minolta pre-autofocus SLR, and the prime lenses were really quite good. IIRC, i had a 28mm f/2 and a 50mm f/1.? (can't remember if it was 1.4 or 1.6, it wasn't the monster 1.2 stuff).

all my autofocus stuff has been Canon EF lenses, starting with a EF28-105 on a EOS Elan film camera circa 1991. I got that when we had our first kid because my wife flat out couldn't focus a lens properly.
