Yeah it's ridiculous lol. Some markets are so good though it's not worth it for the realtors to even get quality pictures made. Houses sell so quick.

Just some pics I took on a recent hike through Palo Duro Canyon near Amarillo, TX. I started with go pro but went to my iphone when the battery died.

Thinking about getting some prints on metal, anyone have any company recomendations or experiences they’d like to share?

    highly recommend

I've went through Adorama for my metal prints and have been fairly satisfied. There are better labs out there apparently but I'm happy with the quality I've gotten so far. They look much better on the wall than a traditional print and frame.

I had a chance to meet the dude who owns the place-he even let us stay in his condo in Capitola :) I originally met him as a couple of us toured his facility. Their attention to detail is amazing-everything goes through a QC process by someone who actually knows what they're looking at if it's not correct, it will be when you get your print.

Metal prints have depth that's amazing-they pop like no other medium. Especially larger prints.

I've been a fan of Bay Photo since the days they did film processing and had stores all around the monterey bay area. had many a custom large color priint made by them from 2-1/4, both transparency and color negative. good folks, good attitudes by all their people. was very happy to see they, unlike much of the photo industry, made the successful transformation into an internet digital printer. AND they still do film!

Now, I had a couple jobs printed by Calypso Color Labs in/near San Jose, long ago (early 80s?). Those were very expensive jobs done for people who wanted the absolute best. The prints came out stunning. I dunno if Calypso is still in business, they were almost entirely pro-oriented, wedding suites and such. Bay always made a point of catering to amateurs as well as professionals.

I have had good luck with ProDPI for aluminum prints. They have had the consistency that I am looking for. Definitely be careful with who you go with and just do a test print or two. Not all labs are as careful with the final output.

It is good to have a few lab sources you can trust. If you want a less standard size and/or different finish (say a panoramic in matte finish) then you may have to shop around. As more labs come into the market it is helping with prices and selection. But not all labs are equal.

Welllll since this thread is so active lately, I’ll bump it with a dumb question:

Do any of you guys sell your pictures? Not like have people paying to you to take pictures of them, which is still cool. Like just your hobby pictures or whatever. Does that make sense?

Wiped it off with a baby wipe and kept shooting. Cleaned up well once I got home.
