    Congrats!
    And congrats to you too!!!
I could BS you all about it, but in reality the answer is NO. If you are a beginner, just do one run day followed by a rest day. Ride a bike gently or walk on your rest day. Also take day off from all cardio about once a week. Good luck!

Anybody get into the NYC marathon? I put my name into the lottery but haven't seen a charge on my CC today. Kinda bummed but also a little relieved.

Hell yeah! Having not done any running at all, I ran a 6:18 mile during lifeguard tryouts one year. At the time I was doing 10,000 yards a day in the pool and it didn't even feel like I was trying on the run.

Really wish I had a competition pool nearby for workouts these days.

Thanks! It's not necessarily that NEED a day off, but MWF is school in the morning at 8:40 till 5 at night then usually work, so I dont usually get a run in on busy days. Doing the whole minimalist thing, after I got the form down pretty good and my feet and leg muscles are already pretty beefy the only thing really holding me back from significantly upping the miles is my piss poor cardio system from never actually consistently running before. I just never liked it, so I never did it.

swimming laps is alright, but I actually enjoy the running aspect of running lol. ;)

got my first couple of runs in since my Grand Canyon run, couple of pretty tough 6-7 mile mountain runs (~ 1200' elevation gain)- appears that I'm not any worse for the wear :)

I'm hoping to get drawn for the Bridger Ridger Run- it's a 22 mile event that has ~ 7000' of elevation gain and 11,000' of loss- it's run mostly on a knife like ridge line w/ just amazing scenery (you just want to make sure you're not gawking too much and tumble to your death :D)

Yeah mon, at least a banana or a slice of bread with PB...

Heading out to OKC in 1 hour or two, the Half Marathon is tomorrow @ 6:30 am. Right now they have 50% probability of rain with temps in the mid 60's to low 70's.

    Will keep y'all posted!

Darn it ALL this work, ans I still fouled up. It was HUMID, after mile 4 it was CROWDED and HILLY!

    I still manage a 2:08:46.

The shuttle NEVER made it to the hotel, so I had to drive and park 1.4 miles away from where the race start it. I'm counting that in the "dailymile".

The caveat? After all this TRAINING, I'm sore but not in discomfort!

I have to work in consistent speed work, in a narrow course "sprinting" is very important.

Well, now I have to get back to the drawing board, sub 2 hour half, I'm still chasing you!

congrats on the finish- I'm sure the heat/humidity would kill me off! :D

we've recently got some much need rain, which rendered my normal trails too muddy today, so went to plan B which is a hill that has a decent gravel shoulder I can run on (prefer not to run on pavement if I can avoid it)- it gains ~ 400' on each side of the hill- so pretty decent uphill (and downhill). 6 miles in 61 minutes about 5 minutes quicker than previous runs, poor time going up both sides, decent time on the crest of the hill and good time going down both sides :)
