weekend didn't go as planned, rain and wind on Saturday- no problem I'll just run on Sunday; Sunday 35 mph winds w/ gusts to 50 mph!!

went to the gym and jumped on their old starmaster for an hour- that kicked my butt pretty good :)

What day/time? I'm going the Saturday Tri-State with a 9:20am start time.

You picked the correct obstacle to fear. The rest may challenge or hurt you a bit, but there is simply no preparing for the ice bath!

Ran with the "fast crew" today. 6.05 time was 53:15, good for 8:48 splits.

They complained at the end that they took it too easy...

I was WINDED! Good thing we had a bit of a "cold front" that cooled things up a bit!

5 trail miles @ Turkey Mountain with the fast crew. They ran 6, I quit @ 5. Time was 53:17. Not bad considering all the elevation changes, at least for this flatlander Floridian...

^ running outside of your element introduces new kinds of hurt to a workout, doesn't it? ;) I try to fit in hills when I can but for the most part compensate with weight lifting to keep the legs strong for those ascents.

    Nice job!

^ I've been doing hills since I moved to this Cow Town, just not consistently running with the fast crew. After the last Half Marathon debacle, I'm in a "take no prisoner's" mode...

LOL nice! I paced my girlfriend on a leisurely half this past Sunday and just signed up for my first full marathon yesterday. The full is a year away so I'm not stressed -- it's more than enough time to train.

I've got another half coming up in October, a week before my next Tough Mudder. I'll try to PR in that one, which shouldn't be hard considering I've only done 1 other half and wasn't ready for it. If I had to pick a goal time, I'd like to break 2 hours.

We'll see how training goes this summer. :)

got a good 6 miles (~ 1200' elevation) in yesterday and then ran the same loop in reverse this evening, yesterday the temps were in the upper 60's, today we were at near record highs at 84!!!!! needless to say todays run was much more difficult, me and the heat don't get along really well :)

I forgot to mentioned a couple of posts ago. The cyst that grew on my right foot, right before the 15K that I ran back home in Tampa? Well it is mostly gone!!! I noticed the day of the half marathon, how little it bothered me during the race and AFTER the race. Well the cyst has been shrinking since! No medication, no steroids or anything other than the ultrasound @ the Chiropractors office and icing it a number of times!!!

Also, yesterday after over a month, I ran 20 minutes of "Fartleks".

Fartleks is a type of training where you alternate your tempo. It goes like this, 3 minutes of slow running, followed by 2 minutes of "bat out of hell" fast and repeat.

This should help me loose a bit of the "baby fat" and increase my lactic threshold. I will alternate this with the "slope training" I will be doing. Slopes will NEVER be an excuse again.

    NO PRISONERS!!! :bananadead:

fartleks don't sound much like fun (sound about as fun as hill repeats :))

had a great run today, my first double digit run since the Grand Canyon, had planned on a 10 miler, but ended up going 13- would have probably gone even longer but had to get back to town (was getting low on water too)- one of those rare days where you feel like you could run for forever!

Did 6 miles today, in 56:37, good for 9:10's. Why is that good? I had to work late, so I ran SOLO and yet I was able to keep that pace. I do have to admit that it was about 80 degrees when I started and about 74 when I finished so of course weather and a light breeze helped. Still...

I need to convince one of my crews to do this, so far I've been unsuccessful....

9 minute miles are a good pace :) my trail running miles range from 10 up to 15 minutes, usually averaging somewhere around 12- anytime I get a run in under 12 minute/miles I feel pretty good :)

took a buddy running w/ me on Tuesday, unfortunately we were having record breaking heat and the mid 80's made it a tough 6 miles- the heat is to remain all week, my Thursday run is going to be done at 5:00 AM :D

Did 6.1 on the trail (Turkey Mountain) yesterday in 1:11:22, good for 11:15's

Doing two 4 miles on the trail today (sloped run training) and 2 miles of fartleks on the treadmill after working out at the gym...

Nope, not today... 4 lousy miles, along the "power lines"... It took me an hour!

Danielle, who is generally MUCH slower than me, was able to mostly stay at the pace of my friend John (who we ran into while at the trail).

I'm eating straight salt right now... :pout:

well I beat the heat this morning and got up at 5:00 and hit the trail at 5:15, 59 degrees vs 84 for the expected high :) got 5.1 miles in, it was a good run, but my energy level definitely feels a little lower vs running later (but I'll trade that for lower temps :D)

4.5 in 42:31, good enough for 9:26's... Except I was supposed to do 6 miles! My legs just gave up from under me, man I'm tired!

Didn't beat the heat this morning, ran 8 miles in a little under 7:30 pace, probably around 7:20,25 not sure. Felt sluggish after running well under 7:00 the day before for 8 miles...training for the Marathon, wish I was still in college, it was easier to run then haha
