And lost the "water bottle belt", all in the same day. Not feeling particularly smart right now...

I've started running recently and was excited to find this post. I haven't spent time learning technique yet but will soon. For now I'm working on 3-5 miles per run and running 3 times a week. Pace is getting faster week over week. I'm at a 9:30 mile now and trying to get down to 8. When I started last month I was running 10:50 miles.

Picked up Nike Free Run 3 v4 and have loved them so far.

    Welcome!

That's a heck of a drop and a heck of a goal. Remember, as it gets hotter, it will be more difficult to run faster times. Don't worry, as Fall is but around the corner... :)

I like a nice half marathon myself. Seems to be easy enough to train for while still keeping other schedules outside of running. Plus you can walk afterwards! ;-)

Yeah, I should try a half, just doesn't have the same allure as the full marathon. One thing I will never do is run in a 1/2 / full marathon where most people run the half. It sucks bad when half way through the race thousands of people peel off and head to the beer tent. I just wanted to run up behind them and punch them in the face!

had a pretty good week, achilles is still not 100%, but much better

got 31.4 miles in- Monday and Wednesday in the hills runs of 5.1 each, Saturday a good long run of 16 miles in the bad lands, an easy 5 mile run along the Yellowstone this morning- legs were definitely a wee bit sore from the Saturday run :D

few pics from the Saturday run

Nice job in the badlands. That looks like a cool place to train. You got some good solid miles this week! I had two great days of running 5.5mi in New Orleans, then 5mi in Houston and then went out for an easy 7 this morning (in San Antonio) and fell apart at mile 4. Not sure what happened, but I've been riding and swimming a ton this week also, so I think fatigue got the better of me. One thing I've learned is to not get too excited about a good or a bad run, they'll both come and go along the way.

my run this morning was a comedy of errors, left and soon realized I forgot my sunglasses as I drove into the morning sun, got to the trailhead and looked at my watch- except it wasn't there, got about a mile and a half into my run and quite suddenly realized I had forgotten one other important chore before I left the house :D w/ all that it was still a decent run

Sprained my big toe last week playing soccer with my boy, so had to catch up this week. Did 18, then 5, then yesterday set a PR for a 10 mile beach run. Bring it on, New York Marathon. I will survive you!

Well, I missed my alarm clock this morning and probably my window to get in a long run today. Its 12:06pm in SAn Antonio and already 101deg. Supposed to be 106 today and that sucks. Its different than in the desert, we have humidity too which will totally ZAP your energy levels. I woke up at 3am for a drink of water and looked at the thermometer....it was still 92deg! UUHHHGG> Makes it really tough to train, but if it was easy I guess everyone would be doing it. :)

Well, its still hot here in Texas (90deg at 11:30pm), but feeling much better. I think I was fighting off some sort of virus or something, because I feel so much better the last couple of days.

Just got back form a 40min workout. 10min ez warmup, 25min Tempo and 5min cool down. Best run in a couple of weeks. Averaged 7:15's on the Tempo and covered about 5.7 mi all together. Not bad and encouraging that I can get some of my speed back. I can usually average 6:20-6:45's during that tempo run, but it'll come back with training! ps. I'm training for the Longhorn 1/2 Ironman on Oct 28th, so right now I'm doing shorter base training work...the long stuff will come soon enough. :)

Well first of all...Thank you for your service to our country! Yeah, I live in San Antonio and go to Lackland periodically for work. It hasn't changed here...still hot and humid. This week has been brutal with 102-107deg all week and 60-80% humidity. Makes it pretty miserable to train.
